Music Video: 30 Seconds To Mars – Up In The Air by Bartholemew Cubbins

The most perfect video of 2013 has arrived. I have always admired Jared Leto as an artist – from his taste in films to curating and creating and to a certain extent re-defining electro-rock. 30 Seconds To Mars’ tracks haven’t always been perfect, however A Beautiful Lie is definitely up there on a list of underrated albums from the 2000s.

Epic videos have been engineered into the creative process of 30 Seconds To Mars’ aritsty – the much publicised, criticised and praised video for Hurricane was just one example.

Once again directed by the eponymous Bartholemew Cubbins, here’s the premiere of the eight and a half minute film for the track Up In The Air starring a slew of creatives and personalities including Dita Von Teese, a work of art by Damien Hirst, Olympic Gold Medalist Jordyn Wieber, artist gymnast and Tumblr meme McKayla Maroney, photographer Maxwell Snow, models Ashley Smith and Anastasia Krivosheeva, Harlow von Brethren, actress and DJ Natalie Loren (who was also in the video for Hurricane) and author Neil Strauss.

Video: MS MR – Hurricane

You might remember that Hurricane (with its accompanying Tumblr glitch-pop video) was in fact the track that propelled Brooklyn duo MS MR to global levels of fame in May last year.

Almost a year later, after supporting Marina and the Diamonds and Jessie Ware, performing all over the world, dominating Tumblr with the release of the Candy Bar Creep Show EP, having the track Bones featured on the Game of Thrones trailer and more…here is the mesmerising re-worked and re-budgeted edit of Hurricane directed by Luke Gilford.

Officially the best news since Lana decided to launch the Paradise Edition of Born To Die this November. My FAVOURITE new artists of 2012 have just announced their brand new four-track EP ‘CANDY BAR CREEP SHOW’, out on October 22. The New York duo is the first band ever to release an EP of all original material exclusively through Tumblr. Listen to it by clicking here. IT IS AMAZING. Once a week through September – starting with lead track “Bones” – a track will be released in a Tumblr post along with artwork, a video, and an official remix. “Tumblr Glitch Pop, Soul Fuzz, Electroshock” is how MS MR describes themselves, so it’s only just that this feels like all of the coolest images and GIFs from tumblr exploded into a beautiful self-edited three-and-a-half minute clip of pop culture perfection. Here is the hypnotising clip of MS MR’s music video for Hurricane. The song is totally enchanting, like something that should have been played live at the Bronze (Google for Buffy The Vampire Slayer reference).
