Drawing us in with a cerebral riser, expanding into a super dimensional indie-pop soundscape with textured drums, astral tones and a funk-laced guitar, Lawrence Timoni opens Good Enough (Still I Try) with introspective, relatable message.

For the hook, Lawrence sings, “You’re not good enough, says the voice in my head… I’m not perfect, but I still try…”. The authenticity is tangible, and the emotional quotient that Lawrence shares is something that we have all encountered with imposter syndrome, and self doubt.

The guitar solo is simply transcendental, and actually serves as more than just an instrumental interlude, as is expands into a stunning, cosmic energy with whistle tones with a masterful bridge that showcases gratitude for the doubt, inviting us to connect with Lawrence’s philosophy that without these doubts, he wouldn’t be where he is today.

Sometimes it is those questions, those insecurities, that remind us to keep tying, to keep achieving and to keep pushing ourselves to greatness. Good Enough (Still I Try) as a title showcases this – the negative sentiment is gone, and we, just like the protagonist are indeed “good enough” exactly as we are, in our path of imperfect perfectionism.

Speaking on the cinematic track, Lawrence confesses, “This release follows Brighter Still, which explored a moment of unexpected love amidst psychosis and anxiety, and Life’s a Mess (But We Love It), a high-energy celebration of embracing flaws and finding beauty in chaos. Good Enough continues this arc with a message of perseverance and self-worth — wrapped in shimmering synths, raw guitars, and uplifting grooves.”

He adds, “Despite the heavy theme, the mood is light, summery, and liberating. Think people dancing through self-doubt, finding hope in connection and music.”

On his references, he tells us, “The sound lives somewhere between Tame Impala, Nothing But Thieves, and Sam Fender“, which we can feel come through in his sound, although there is no doubt that Lawrence Timoni is manifesting a unique universe unto his own design.

We have added Good Enough (Still I Try) to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Lawrence Timoni, and anticipate future releases from the talented star.
