Establishing the mood with a meditative frequency and glitching synth, FRNKO opens Tastes So Sweet with a cohesive tapestry of sound and astral vocals. Needless to say, we are in awe. The song throws back to iconic songs like Born Slippy by Underworld – tapping into that 90s, philosophically, emotive club vibes, with a touch of 2025 FKA Twigs energy.

We appreciate the contemporary mix, and the progressive vocal production as well as the creative ebbs and flows that manifest as the track takes us on a journey with a cinematic allure. There is no doubt that the track would be perfect for an episode of Industry or Euphoria on HBO.

The baseline that emerges is sublime and amplifies the moody energy that the track has to offer. We feel hypnotized by it before a classic club piano reignites the higher frequencies along with rhythmic percussion moments.

Speaking on the creative inspiration behind the release, FRNKO confesses, “[I] thought nothing really matched the vibe for night driving as of currently, and the only way to actually do it was make my own music, so this was the biggest driving factor, also the fact that I love DJ’ing as a hobby, and thought this would be the gateway to getting started with production.”

We learn that FRNKO was influenced by Paul Schulze, John Summit, and Blair Muir, which we can feel come to life with the composition, but there is no doubt that FRNKO is creating a sonic universe unto his own.

FRNKO is a Toronto-based electronic producer balancing university life with his growing passion for music. Working on a tight student budget, he crafted Tastes So Sweet with the support of BandLab, showcasing his resourcefulness and strong creative instinct.
