Setting the tone with a luscious riser and waving synth, Frannie B opens her new single, In Too Deep with the introspective lyrics, “I’ve been caught up in feelings stuck inside of a dream and it’s getting harder to wake up… I’ve been sleeping on a truth I don’t wanna face…“

The song, which is the first single from Frannie B‘s debut EP (out later this year), tells us the story of the artist’s “derealisation”, which is “a feeling that one’s surroundings are not real, especially as a symptom of mental disturbance.”

The profound subject in the song is highlighted the lyrics, “sing a lullaby to me, cos I can’t wake up, so I’d rather sleep, flying too high to pass the time“, and “I can’t wake up, so let me sleep”, but juxtaposed with bright production.

Sleeping because of depression is a major thing that a lot of people go through, so we are grateful to Frannie B for shining a light on this in such a poetic way with clean and vibrant pop soundscape by Morten Jepsen.

Frannie B is a 24 year old pop artist with over a million streams on Spotify already. In Too Deep is a minimal dark pop track influenced by artists like Mabel and Rita Ora.

Speaking on the track and depth, Frannie B says:

“A few years ago I experienced derealisation for the first time and it massively unnerved me. It was really important to me to write a song about it as it’s an area of mental health that I didn’t even know existed until it I experienced it first hand. Derealisation isn’t as widely discussed as other disorders and I hope this song can help to bring some awareness to something that can be so overwhelming.”
