Our obsession with Rooftop Screamers seems to grow with every listen. Having featured Blink of an Eye, My Sanity, and Souvenirs, we couldn’t wait to experience the talented Mike Collins‘ latest offering, Forsaken, and share our experience.

Enticing us with panning electing guitar riffs and a high octane kick, Rooftop Screamers open Forsaken with the lyrics, “Here’s a taste, here’s a taste of what’s to come, pretty soon all you see will be gone, take a breath, take a breath while you still can, I hear the echoes screaming from the past, on borrowed ground on borrowed time, the sun will soon be fading, from here on out its touch and go…”

We are immediately enthralled by the prophetic vibes and the important message that manifests. We could imagine the track being featured in the new reboot of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, if they do indeed have The Bronze in New Sunnydale!

The track channels the spirit of early Muse, Deftones, and Steven Wilson, and is driven by Kevin Hahn’s fierce guitars, Don Schwarz’s steady bass, and Mike Collins’ powerhouse drumming and keyboard work. Stephen McSwain’s commanding vocals soar over the mix, giving voice to themes of loss, exploitation and humanity’s cyclical self-destruction.

On a lyrical plane, Forsaken is both poetic and piercing. The prose evokes images of colonization, greed and decay. It brings to life a haunting commentary on power and its consequences. Beneath its rock exterior lies a cinematic undercurrent, with zeitgeist echoes of dystopian reflection and existential reckoning.
