Drawing us with a cerebral, haunting bass and staccato, industrial guitar riffs with pulsating drums and dimensional textures, Disdarken open Far From Home with a subversive energy and the poignant question, “Are you comfortable, lying in your makeshift bed, with all the world up in your head?”

The timbre and vocal production remind us of early Disturbed and Marilyn Manson, but with an almost futuristic edge. The lyricism has a prophetic, and conscious vibe with deep introspective roots, and also a sense of worldly wisdom. We appreciate this. We learn that the song is inspired by Disdarken band member Nick Carmine‘s childhood experiences growing up on a train his father conducted.

Far From Home expands with a dimensional energy and captivating hooks, bringing to life a stadium ready energy and a dark-wave momentum that is perfect for an underground club. The switch up of the lyrical flow is welcome, keep us enthralled throughout the experience.

Disdarken prove instrumental mastery with an almost 80s tinged solo, like we are in a Night Rider episode. It’s giving fierce moody synthwave before a stunning and ethereal middle eight with evocative female vocals mirrored my the male counterpart, leading to an anthemic and dimensional finale. Needless to say, we are in awe! The full circle element of the track makes it perfect to play on loop!

With reference to the message of the song, Nick Carmine comments, “It’s about the distance between a child and his parent. A kind of distance that starts out as physical – a parent on the road or living somewhere else – but ends up as a rift that’s present even when physically reunited.”

Alluding to their wider body of work, the other half of the band, Alan V. Niculae adds, “It’s the slowest, most melodic and the moodiest song on the album. We can call it ‘the ballad’. Unveiling the title of the incoming opus, he adds, “Keep The Dark Inside is our debut album and we’re planning on a Summer 2025 release. It’s a soft concept album built like a puzzle.”

We can’t wait to hear the record in full, and in the meantime, we have added Far From Home to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream Disdarken‘s wider discography, including album tracks A Part From Darkness, and Alone.
