Drawing us in with a padded kick, 80s synths and cosmic frequencies, Fantomacs opens Carry You with a sublime sonic soundscape, ad-lib vocalisations and the lyrics, “Crossing my mind every December I can’t wash you down, always denied all my feelings, no distractions now…”

We immediately connect with the dimensionality of the soundscape, the shimmering textures and the pristine vocals. We learn that Carry You is a cover, first made famous by Rules, written by Maddy Abela and Richard Samuel Smith.

The song explores feelings for someone from the past, and captures the human struggle of desire. We are invited to reflect on memories that resurface and notions of unresolved emotions. There’s definitely a mix of vulnerability and hope in the lyrics, as well as the willingness to try again. In essence, Carry You serves as a meditation on love and reconciliation.

Fantomacs tells us that his versions is intended to “understand the club not as escapism, but as a place where emotion can move at full speed.” He says, “A cover only matters if you treat it like a real release — with respect for the original, but also the responsibility to bring your own truth to it. Carry You is about energy, yes — but it’s also about presence. The kind of track that keeps moving, even when the emotions underneath it are heavy.”

The production is mesmerizing, with cerebral astral details, funk-laced riffs, and immersive synths. It is the definition of pop perfection. The track would be perfect for a multitude of sync placements, notably a recent film like Kissing is the Easy Part which perfectly reflects the message and vibe of the cover.

We learn that Fantomacs is a Switzerland-based independent producer also known as Joerg Peters, who builds his work on contrast, blending electronic precision with human warmth. The message of the song feels zeitgeist and delivered at a time when society needs it the most.

This release bridges into his upcoming Berlin Nights era. Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Carry You to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Fantomacs, including Shakedown, Icy Dreams, and Infinite Reflections.
