This is more of the raw direction that I expected ARTPOP to be taken in. Here’s a brilliant behind the scenes film taken when shooting Gaga’s “True Colours” cover of ELLE magazine. Shot by Ruth Hogben (you can see more of here work here), styled by Brandon Maxwell and with the most phenomenal set design by Marla Weinhoff, the film is set to the instrumental version of Applause. Gaga wears furs from Chanel and Versace.

ELLE magazine’s Women in Music 2012 issue celebrates “the women currently rocking the charts — and our worlds” and features artists including Lana Del Rey, Shirley Manson, Emily Haines, Ellie Goulding, Kimberley Perry, Patti Smith, Shakira, Kelly Clarkson and Azealia Banks. The Lana image is an outtake from the Sean and Seng Interview magazine shoot, which is why the new Azealia Banks image photographed by Nicola Formichetti is the standout visual from this piece. In a bold move (and rather intelligent move), Azealia also just signed with Troy Carter, Lady Gaga’s manager.
