Setting the tone with a dimensional, rising soundscape that echoes notions of an 8-bit video game, expanding with thrashing guitar drama, Anning’s Dragon open Dragoon with a playful essence and a captivating vocal performance in Japanese.

Dragoon starts with a punch. The rhythm is sharp and fast. The guitars are loud and raw. We feel the beat in our chests and it pulls you in right away. There are ebbs and flows between melodic depth and fierce rapped segments, showcasing the dynamism and expansive nature of the band.

The vocals are laced with pain and power. We learn that it is designed to sound like someone who has fallen, is standing tall again. There is deep rooted empowerments layered in the track. The instrumental solos are sublime – the guitar performance is stadium ready and transcendental sending us astral before an anthemic finale!

The band from Yamaguchi cites Lenine, Led Zeppelin, Todd Rundgren, Los Lobos, and even Stevie Wonder as sonic influences, which we can feel manifest with Dragoon, although there is no doubt that Anning’s Dragon are designing a universe of their own.

We deeply appreciate the fusion of funk, rock and 8-bit – the result feels fresh and authentic – and we can only imagine how epic it would be to experience Anning’s Dragon in a live setting! The track’s energy feels like a battle cry from the heart, and the strength that we can generated from pain.

Dragoon is taken from Anning’s Dragon‘s album, The Promised Land which is eight dynamic and genre bending songs that tell stories of personal growth, and spiritual rebirth.
