Always the progressive genius when it comes to retail cult marketing, Selfridges today marks the launch of AGENDER – a campaign introducing and showcasing the idea of gender-neutral fashion. The gender neutral concept space across three floors explores the masculine, the feminine and interplay found in-between.

Designs by labels including Ann Demeulemeester, Comme des Garçons, Meadham Kirchoff and Gareth Pugh will also feature in the lineup.

Director Kathryn Ferguson’s first film as Selfridges’ “Resident Film Director” also launched today both in store and online as part of the campaign. It was co-directed with Alex Turvey and features an original track “He, She, Me” composed by Dev Hynes, with vocals from both Dev and Neneh Cherry!

The film stars New York based Actress and model, Hari Nef and choreography by internationally renowned choreographer and artist Ryan Heffington, who has collaborated with FKA Twigs, Shia LeBoeuf, Sia & Maddie Ziegler and Arcade Fire.

Dev’s sophomore album Cupid Deluxe is incredible. Fact. Dev’s visuals since pretty much Day 1 have always been on point. The man has a vision and he nails his creative content every single time. They improve, they vary in style, the man is growing and his vision is so beautiful to see progress.

Here’s the video for grime-inspired track, “High Street” featuring Skepta produced thanks to SSENSE and System. The online retailer is playing this game so damn well. This is exactly the type of editorial the other major players in the online luxury fashion space are doing. Hypebeast went from pure media to original content and print magazine to e-commerce retailer. The partnership of System and SSENSE is doing the same but horizontally, but they are doing it brilliantly.

So far the partnership has fostered videos from Sky Ferreira, Hercules & Love Affair and Henry Krinkle. Plus Maryam L’Ange directed Chloë Sevigny in a noir-inspired fashion film featuring music by electronica three-piece, Eaux. The best part is that this content is shoppable and speaks to a smarter audience, and audience that doesn’t want to be talked down to and patronised by “fashion self-help /dress this way” editorials. It makes the experience so much better.

In addition to scoring James Franco’s Palo Alto (which you HAVE to see, if you haven’t read the series of short stories, you should, I promise that they will be worth your while), Dev Hynes has also contributed the title track for the Gia Coppola directed film. Palo Alto (the track) is so hypnotisingly blurry and beautiful in West Coast kinda way (fitting). The film drops in America on May 9 and the full soundtrack is available on iTunes now.

Well, Blood Orange/Dev is back. Here’s the video for Chamakay from the new album Cupid Deluxe, the female vocals are provided by Caroline Polachek and the video is set in Georgetown, Guyana (the home of Dev’s mother). He tracked down family members, including his 92 year old grandfather, who he had never met before – the video captures their meeting.
