Drawing us in with a high-octane energy with textured drums and immersive guitars, The Plastic Pals open Decisions with dimensionality and metaphorical prose. We are immediately enthralled by the layered power-pop vocals and the intricacy of the instrumental performances.

The chord changes carry a high emotional quotient and we appreciate the poetic prowess of the lyrics. Fans of The Beach Boys, The Beatles, and Dire Straits would be able to connect with what the Swedish band is sharing.

As for the message, Decisions is about unexpectedly finding love while going through a difficult, confusing time in life. The band shares how they feel lost, tired and unsure where life is heading, though meeting someone special gives them hope and changes their outlook. The main message is that love is not something we can plan or control. It suddenly happens to us, and after that, our choices determine where the relationship goes.

We really vibe with the philosophical depth and intentionality of the song, and are glad to hear that Decisions is just part of The Plastic Pals‘ album, Keep it Burning. Commenting on the story of the song, The Plastic Pals simply say, “I don’t know where we’re going, but I sure do enjoy the ride.” There is no doubt that the song could land a sync placement in an existential TV show like Nine Perfect Strangers.

We learn that the lyrics and melodies were written by Håkan “Hawk” Soold, with production by The Plastic Pals, recorded with Per Ängkvist at Real Music Studio, featuring co-production and mixing by Jonathan Segel, and mastering by Peter Maher, who has worked with icons like Adele and Lana Del Rey.

Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Decisions to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of The Plastic Pals, including the entirety of Keep it Burning which features the single, Lost in Translation.
