This looks amazing. Life. A perspective film via the relationship between James Dean and the man who “discovered him”, LIFE magazine photographer Dennis Stock, who pursued a photo essay on Dean as a “leader of a new movement” directed by Anton Corbijn. Robert Pattinson plays Stock, Dane DeHaan plays James Dean – in what appears to be the best cast movie of the year. The acting looks exceptional.

James Franco for Dazed & Confused: Visionaries

Every so often there is one of those magazine covers that no matter who the subject is, you wish that you had been part of the creative process. Here’s the latest. James Franco by Josh Olins and Robbie Spencer for the December issue of Dazed & Confused. The issue is titled Visionaries and showcases a selection of 50 super high profile multi-platform creatives including Björk, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Kim Jones, Bart Hess, Megaforce, Austin Lynch, Tabor Robak, Nic Hamilton Maja Borg, Béla Tarr, Kenneth Anger and Jonas Akerlund each taking over Dazed Digital’s video section for a week at a time, premiering their own original work alongside newly commissioned films from their favourite artists. Granted there are tonnes of other creatives that could have been featured, but everything has limits.

The shirt featured on the cover is Prada, the silk tunic from within the editorial is Gucci.

Dazed’s new generation of video launches on 18 November.

Converse/Dazed Emerging Artist Exhibition: Adham Faramawy

Last night saw the unveil of the Converse/Dazed Emerging Artist Award exhibition at Londonewcastle Project Space in Shoreditch. Granted that when I walked into the space, my eyes were somewhat immediately drawn to the hypercolour reality of a bare ass on a plasma screen surrounded by plinths and prints, or as the artist Royal Academy graduate Adham Faramawy would describe “exploring the formal points of contact between the physical and non-physical”.

Preoccupied by bodies, Adham’s work investigates what it means to represent and mediate flesh across image platforms – the body, the city, the screen. It holds this hypnotic sensuality and to an extent pours colour palate inspiration from Joshua Light Show into a multi-dimensional cyber reality that still bears this raw humanity.

The exhibition runs until November 5th at Londonewcastle Project Space in Shoreditch, it’s something you really should experience. Adham’s solo exhibition will take place from 17th January to 23rd February at Cell Project Space.

This month’s issue of Dazed & Confused is guest-edited by MUGLER main man and former Dazed fashion director Nicola Formichetti. The Italian-Japanese trendsetter has diverted his vision towards the youth boom of his east Asian homeland. Here are the four covers for the issue dubbed #fantasia, featuring J-pop icon Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and Chinese film sensation Angelababy.

The new issue of Dazed & Confused, guest-edited by Nicola Formichetti, is out on Wednesday 14th November.

Y’all will know that I am a huge fan of Dazed & Confused as a publication, and in particular, a fan of their innovative cover art. Following his collaboration with Jay-Z and Kanye for the album artwork for Watch The Throne, comes Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci’s art-directed 20th anniversary cover shoot for the iconic magazine. I absolutely love this.

Dazed & Confused‘s Collections Special hits stores this week, bringing together the highlights of the new season’s collections with the best of those from 1991, all shot by Kacper Kasprzyk. The cover features LA-based punk progeny Juno Temple.

The issue also features the most incredible images of Tom Hardy photographed by Rankin, where he is interviewed about The Dark Knight Rises and the acclaimed Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Check out the images below and more details on the issue here.

One of the coolest avant guard shoots that I have seen in a while. Here is Andrej Pejic (yes, again) in a concept shoot by Anthony Maule for the April 2011 issue of Dazed & Confused, styled by the fashion editor, Robbie Spencer. The spread features incredible pieces from KARLISMYUNKLE favourites Anne Demeulemeester, Gareth Pugh, Manish Arora and more. Kudos to Gary Card for the prop work.

The January 2011 issue of (one of) our favourite monthly magazines Dazed & Confused features True Blood’s Anna Paquin on the cover, shot in LA by KARLISMYUNKLE favourite Terry Richardson. The same issue also has an exclusive 15th-anniversary interview and collaborative archive shoot with Raf Simons and an encounter with Lykke Li. Definitely one to grab off the newsstand.
