Drawing us in with a spoken word introduction, accompanied by an intricate piano performance, Dax opens his poignantly titled new single, God, Can You Hear Me? with the words, “Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord hear my voice, let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy…”

The opus expands with emotive chords as Dax shares his turmoil with the lines, “God, can you hear me? I’m silently screaming I can’t let it show on my face, my addictions are beating me down, I bottle them all, then I chase, I’m at war with the man that I am…”

As always, we are captivated by Dax‘s raw authenticity and how he channels his lived experience into a highly relatable and exquisitely executed level of artistry. God, Can You Hear Me? serves as a prayer from a man who has been in deep emotional and spiritual pain. There is no doubt, as we know from his previous releases like Dear Alcohol, that Dax feels trapped by notions of addiction, depression and self-hatred. He is fighting an internal battle between who he is, who he was, and who he wants to become.

Through his words, Dax shares how he feels alone even when surrounded by others. Like many of us, he struggles to express emotions and feels disconnected from the world. The song also explores guilt and shame. Dax feels weighed down by sin and personal failure. He seeks forgiveness and cleansing, hoping faith can free him from this suffering. At the same time, he questions religion itself and feels confused by what he sees as distorted truth. This is the most conscious part of the song.

Dax confesses, “God influenced this release and my relationship with him. It was inspired by a question that I had when I was 25. I asked myself the question God, Can You Hear Me?. Ever since then I’ve been trying to quiet the noise of the world so I can hear his voice.”

Naturally, God, Can You Hear Me? comes with a cinematic music video shot by Patrick Tohill that sees Dax sharing his voice in the streets, in the rain, whilst his friend dramatically takes his own life. There is a twist, however, and faith comes into play. If you or someone you know needs support, you can contact the UK Samaritans at 116 123 or the US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988, both available 24/7 for free and confidential help.

There is no doubt that God, Can You Hear Me? would fit into a remake of a film like Dead Poets Society, A Star Is Born, and Manchester by the Sea, which all explore themes of male suicide or suicidal struggle with emotional depth and sensitivity.

We are always moved by Dax‘s artistry, and have added God, Can You Hear Me? to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Dax‘s incredible discography, and anticipate future releases from the visionary artist.

Establishing the mood with an intimate guitar soundscape, Dax opens Man I Used To Be with a brooding timbre and alternative country adjacency as he sings the introspective lyrics, “I’m half the man I used to be, it’s gon’ take some gettin’ used to me, I used to think I had it all, but when you’re up, all you do is fall…”

The opus expands with a high emotional quotient as the star shares his lived experience, woes and wisdom. Man I Used To Be is about change and growth. Dax openly admits that he is not the same person he once was. He used to think he had everything, but he realized that success can also lead to falling down. Now, he feels like only half of his old self remains.

The visionary Canadian star sings about his turmoil from the past. Family trauma, heartbreak, lies, and the addiction shaped him, which he has also addressed in his wider discography, particularly Dear Alcohol. We know from his brilliant songwriting that he was trapped in his own mind and made mistakes, but how he also learned from those struggles and is using his art for catharsis.

Man I Used To Be shows that Dax is moving forward. He affirms philosophically how no longer wants to repeat old habits. He lets go of his pain, chooses faith, and learns to be alone. Being “half the man he used to be” means he has let go of the bad parts of himself. Now, he is working to become better, even if it feels unfamiliar.

On the message of Man I Used To Be, Dax confesses, “My life influenced this release and what I was going through at the time.I told myself I wouldn’t drop a new song in 2025 until I went 6 months alcohol free because I wanted to see what I could create with complete clarity. This song was the result.”

As with most of Dax’s releases, Man I Used To Be comes with a cinematic, narrative-driven music video shot by Logan Meis! For fans of Dax, he has some great news with a recent headline tour called the Lonely Dirt Road Tour, which is scheduled for the end of October. With reference to his intentional art, Dax aptly puts it, “Music for the people, spread by the people.”

Naturally, we have added Man I Used To Be to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Dax‘s exquisite discography, and immerse ourselves in his music video universe!

One of the most inspiring artists that we have have the honour of featuring over the last couple of years is Dax, so when we heard that the visionary Canadian singer and rapper was back with Lonely Dirt Road, we couldn’t wait to share our experience of the track in detail!

Opening with cinematic keys, astral textures and astral guitar melodies with cerebral synths, Dax kicks off Lonely Dirt Road with introspective prose as he sings, “When I need space, that’s where I go, a place to escape that nobody knows, where I feel free to let things go, and face this evil that burdens my soul…”

He continues with a high emotional quotient, “I bring my hatred, I pack my pain, all the emotions I cannot explain, it’s where I found God and filled that hole, it’s he, myself, and I on that Lonely Dirt Road…“

In essence, the message of Lonely Dirt Road serves as a deeply personal reflection on the emotional burdens carried in silence. It explores Dax‘s need for solitude to process pain and inner turmoil. The metaphor of “lonely dirt road” is both a literal escape and a symbolic journey toward healing, faith, and self-understanding.

Overall, the song speaks to the pressure of fulfilling societal and familial expectations, whilst hiding internal struggles – especially as a man. It reveals a spiritual reckoning, confronting past wounds and seeking peace in a place untouched by judgment – just God, Dax, and the road.

The star says, “This story is about the mental health walks I used to take to clear my head that have now turned into mental health drives.” Dax adds, “My relationship with God heavily influenced this release at the highest level.”

Naturally, we have added the song to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Dax‘s epic discography and immerse ourselves in the cinematic accompanying visual and Dax‘s growing music video universe!

Soldier by Dax featuring Tom MacDonald is an intensely powerful track that dives into themes of resilience, masculinity, and the mental and emotional struggles of facing life’s toughest battles. The song opens with an intricate guitar riff layered with expanding high hats and Dax‘s signature presence, setting an intense, raw tone. This sonic atmosphere creates a backdrop that feels both gritty and contemplative, mirroring the inner turmoil and strength that the lyrics explore.

In the first verse, Dax reflects on the challenges of facing depression and anxiety, describing them as battles fought in solitude. The lyrics powerfully convey how societal expectations often pressure individuals, especially men, to suppress their struggles. His line about “going to war in your brain” paints a vivid image of internal conflict. Dax’s lyrics depict the exhaustion of constantly “being strong” for others, offering a rare glimpse into the vulnerabilities men face but often feel pressured to hide.

Tom MacDonald’s verse complements Dax’s with a similar theme but adds a sociopolitical layer. MacDonald’s approach critiques societal stereotypes about masculinity and addresses expectations placed on men to provide and sacrifice without complaint. His lyrics reveal the tension between personal identity and societal expectations, as he wrestles with issues like toxic masculinity, duty, and the struggle of being “the bigger man.”

The chorus, with Dax proclaiming himself as a “soldier,” is a declaration of resilience in the face of hardship. The repetition of the phrase “I’m a soldier…” emphasizes the song’s core message: endurance through life’s battles. It resonates as both a personal affirmation and a broader call to listeners who face their own “wars” in everyday life, making the song deeply relatable.

<iframe loading="lazy" title="Dax - "Soldier" (Feat.

Recorded in one seamless take in Missoula, Montana, Dax’s performance reflects a raw, live energy that amplifies the track’s emotional impact. This choice captures the immediacy of Dax’s and MacDonald’s verses, making listeners feel as though they’re hearing an honest confession. The collaboration with Lex Nour Beats results in a seamless blend of production elements that underscore the artists’ intense delivery.

Soldier serves as more than just a track on Dax‘s upcoming album, it’s a testament to the challenges people face daily, validating the struggles of those who “fight” to stay strong. Both artists use their verses to give voice to common yet often unspoken experiences, bridging their personal stories with universal emotions. In a music landscape often dominated by escapism, Soldier stands out as a work of authenticity and resilience.

The music video is an explosive, high budget, cinematic adventure that has us totally hypnotized, featuring epic performances from both artists. Naturally, we have added Solider to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the discographies of both Dax and Tom MacDonald!

Dax, with his raw lyrical prowess and unfiltered, conscious honesty, has become a magnet for listeners seeking authenticity in an age of superficiality. His music, a potent blend of introspective storytelling and hard-hitting beats, resonates deeply with those of us who see our own struggles and triumphs reflected in his verses.

The Canadian breakout star’s ability to articulate the complexities of human experience, ranging from mental health battles to societal issues, has cultivated a dedicated following that borders on obsession. This fervor is not merely about the music itself but also about Dax‘s embodiment of resilience and relentless pursuit of self-expression. As we immerse ourselves in his art, it’s clear that our fixation on Dax stems from a desire to find a voice that speaks to the unspoken, making the personal universally relatable.

When we heard that Dax was back with A Real Man, and its accompanying music video, we knew we were in for a treat. With an intricate guitar soundscape, Dax sets the tone by singing, “Yeah she says she wants a real man, one who opens up the door holds her hand, and still smiles when he feels bad, in control of his emotions, wears his heart on his sleeve but don’t get mad, one who gives her all his time, puts his dreams to the side, and gets a real bag…”

The video is another cinematic masterpiece which brings to life the narrative of the opus with an empowering twist. The actors and Dax‘s presence in the visual are incredible. We are always in awe of how Dax presents his artistry.

As for the message of the song itself, the lyrics of A Real Man delve into the complex and often contradictory expectations placed on men in romantic relationships. The narrative revolves around a woman’s idealized vision of a “real man”, someone who is emotionally available, consistently supportive, and financially stable, yet also self-sacrificing to the point of sidelining his own dreams. The repeated refrain underscores this ideal, but the verses expose the unsustainable nature of such expectations.

The protagonist of the song struggles to meet these demands, revealing the inherent tension between being emotionally open and maintaining the stoicism often expected of men. The lyrics critique the unrealistic standards set by romantic fantasies, comparing them to the unattainable perfection depicted in Disney movies. This juxtaposition highlights the disparity between romantic ideals and the reality of human imperfection.

A Real Man further explores the emotional toll these pressures take on men. The protagonist’s attempts to conform lead to a gradual erosion of his true self, culminating in a poignant realization of his own inadequacy in fulfilling an impossible ideal. The imagery of diving to the bottom of a bottle and drowning in sorrows paints a vivid picture of his despair and the destructive coping mechanisms he resorts to.

Ultimately, the song is a powerful commentary on the unrealistic expectations of masculinity and the detrimental impact they have on both individuals and relationships. It calls for a more compassionate and realistic understanding of what it means to be a “real man,” emphasizing the need for mutual support and acceptance in a partnership.

We always love what Dax creates, and have added A Real Man to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our brand new TIMELESS playlist whilst we continue to stream the star’s wider discography and view his epic and growing music video library!

In addition to a slew of his other releases, we previously featured Dax when he took us on a profound self-love journey with his single, Dear Alcohol, so when we heard that the star had enlisted Atlus, Kelsie Watts, SkyDxddy, Phix, Kayla Rae, and more for a MEGA REMIX of the track, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.

The song kicks off with the iconic self-realized lyrics from Dax as he sings, “I got wasted ’cause I didn’t wanna deal with myself tonight, my thoughts get drowned until I feel alright, I keep drinkin’ ’til I’m someone I don’t recognize…”

Dax is swiftly joined by his collaborators, who bring to life the shared message of the track in their own unique way, each adding their own perspective for the collective betterment of society in the face of the violence and destruction that alcohol brings.

A ten minute opus about giving up alcohol, especially when it’s a collaboration featuring numerous artists, possesses a unique and potent power to inspire, motivate, and resonate with listeners on multiple levels. The artists featured, in order, are Atlus, Kelsie Watts, Carly Pearl, ERV ELLO, Skydxddy, Trippz Michaud, Kayla Rae, Common Tribe, TROY, Phix, KC Makes Music, and OfficialDJAaron!

Dax‘s music already has an unparalleled ability to evoke emotions and memories. The MEGA REMIX about overcoming alcohol addiction taps further into deep-seated feelings of struggle, hope, resilience, and triumph. When multiple artists come together to lend their voices to such a cause, it amplifies the emotional impact, drawing in listeners from diverse backgrounds who may have experienced similar challenges or know someone who has.

<iframe loading="lazy" title="Dax - "Dear Alcohol" (MEGA REMIX) [ft.

The collaborative nature of the MEGA REMIX fosters a sense of community and solidarity. Each artist brings their own unique style, perspective, and personal experiences to the table, creating a rich tapestry of voices united by a common theme. This diversity not only enriches the music itself but also reflects the reality that the journey to sobriety is different for everyone. Whether it’s through soulful vocals, heartfelt lyrics, or stirring instrumentals, each artist contributes their own piece to the collective message of hope and healing.

We love how Dax also managed to manifest a music video for the opus, featuring each of the incredible artists who were chosen from Dax‘s TikTok open verse challenge! We love the message, the philosophical depth and the passion that Dax creates with, and have added the MEGA REMIX of Dear Alcohol to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our brand new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Dax‘s wider discography, and anticipate future releases from the visionary creator.

Setting the tone with a pitched, choral vocal singing the hook, “Everyday I pray that all this pain will go away, I hold my faith and trust that God’s gonna lead the way, I know i’ll make it through the storm and through the rain and I wont break until I see a brighter day…”, Dax opens Catch the Rain with an inspiring message before sharing evocative prose detailing his own woes and vulnerabilities.

This is one of the greatest reasons that Dax is on such a solid ascension as an artist. His words are genius and authentic. He allows us to connect with his soul and emotional depth, as he takes us on a poetic and conscious journey with his discography and of course, Catch the Rain is yet another incredible addition.

Of course, the release wouldn’t be complete without a music video, and this time we see Dax at church, in a confessional manner, in the studio, in line with the lyrics, and a narrative detailing an incident and eventual mortality.

The most powerful lyrics in the song is when Dax sings, “My greatest hits are my worst times compiled, I bottled up then shared to the world and that what’s made them global and that’s the f*cked up part popping prescriptions while giving vivid descriptions to people who clap listen while you stuck inside a prison slave to the algorithm…”

The commentary on his career and the music industry runs deep, and we applaud the creator for his openness and frankness as he invites us into his universe once again.

Speaking to his fans, Dax says, “This song means the world to me. Praying it reaches those who need it. This is one of my favorite songs I have every written. Thank you for taking the time and continuing to allow me to use my platform to spread positivity through impactful music for the people.”

We have added Catch the Rain to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Dax‘s wider discography, including Dear Alcohol, and JOKER.

We recently featured Dax when he took us on a profound self-love journey with his hit single, Dear Alcohol, so we were thrilled to have the chance to experience his brand new release, Searching For A Reason.

Establishing the mood with an immersive, melodic soundscape, Dax delivers the empowering spoken words, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, you are a light…”

Searching For A Reason expands with a luscious, atmospheric and soulful hip-hop energy as Dax raps with wisdom, “Trust gets you killed, love gets you hurts, being real gets you hated, so tell me what it’s worth, I done seen these people change and try twist up all my words, I’ve been stuck inside a maze, they say that means that I’m on Earth…”

Speaking on his connection with Searching For A Reason, Dax confesses, “This is a song that resonates very deeply with me and it is possibly one of my favorites [that] I’ve ever written.”

Dax elaborates, “It speaks on life’s walk during these crazy times and challenges we face in a society obsessed with instant gratification. Also paired with a visual that was inspired by one of my favorite films of all time called Alice In Wonderland.”

The music video for Searching For A Reason sees our protagonist that on the role of Alice, as he falls down a rabbit hole and engages with various characters from the iconic fairy tale! It is so refreshing to see Dax in this visual, and we are forever in awe of the production value of his music videos! The music video was shot by Eden Gamliel at Happy I’m Sad Productions.

Dax cites Tupac, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan as some of his influences, which we appreciate, but it is also clear that he is creating a conscious universe of his own.

We have added Searching For A Reason to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream Dax’s wider discography including Dear Alcohol, She Cheated Again and My Last Words.
