To mark a fresh, new beginning for 2018 with diverse beauty in a photo calendar shot by Steven Klein (we last saw his sport inspired work for Equinox almost two years ago). Each calendar girl was chosen for their unique style, personality and iconic look. “Throughout my career, I have championed diversity of both race and body type. This casting includes both iconic supermodels and fresh faces in a modern representation of beauty and body. It’s about the multiplicity of woman in the year 2018,” said Roitfeld.

All proceeds from the sale of the calendar benefit the Special Olympics, the world’s largest sports organization for children and adults with disabilities. Roitfeld’s inspiration for the project and teaming up with the Special Olympics came from her personal trainer who is visually impaired. “I am in awe of any person who devotes their mind and body to athletics, but especially those with disabilities. This is the definition of courage. I am pleased the proceeds of this calendar support the Special Olympics—an organization I greatly respect—and to promote the visibility of its efforts,” said Roitfeld.

Therefore, we are happy to partner with Special Olympics and sharing its mission and program to help people in need” said Alessandri.

CR Fashion Book has been my favourite magazine since it launched with the debut Rebirth issue with Kate Upton. Season upon season, Carine Roitfeld and her team have outdone themselves to premiere Kim Kardashian in a unique and new light, not to mention the Beyonce issue, so it is really exciting to see none other than Lady Gaga dubbed by Carine as defining ‘Classic Eccentric’ – beyond accurate.

Here’s Gaga by Bruce Weber – completely unretouched throughout the issue, Weber also interviews Gaga for the cover story as he is a huge jazz enthusiast.

CR also unveiled the cover of the first ever CR Men’s Book featuring Lucky Blue Smith shot by Sebastian Faena. Very excited to see what’s in the debut issue!

After six issues and a fair few momentus press occasions including the secret Kim Kardashian cover, Carine Roitfeld is now set to launch the brother publication to CR Fashion Book, named CR Men’s Book.

I don’t know why but this seems so old school and awesome. I love that the fashion industry (a moment like this at least) is almost parody of itself. So Conchita Wurst, LGBT icon and Europop sensation is the new Andre J. First she walked in and closed the Jean Paul Gaultier couture show and now Karl Lagerfeld has just shot her for CR Fashion Book.

According to CR, “Her music and “drag-to-riches” story have captured many, which is why she—along with pregnant model Ashleigh Good—were chosen to represent the emerging fashion icons of today.” According to Karl Lagerfeld, Conchita “gives new meaning to the term drag” and for his most recent couture show, Ashleigh Good walked the runway, with child, in bridal couture.

Either way, The Mask(-ed woman) that we saw a preview for on the third issue of CR Fashion Book is none other than Kim Kardashian. I’ve only met Kim once (in Cape Town of all places) but the respect and admiration I have for her and what she has achieved in this world is unparalleled. She’s an extremely smart woman and this is proof in point of the fact that she is playing this game better than most.

The CR Fashion Book shoot took place at Karl Lagerfeld’s studio the night before the amfAR gala in Cannes. It is art-directed by Riccardo Tisci.

The alternative cover features a Bruce Weber shoot with Emily Ratajkowski (my Blurred Lines favourite) and two male models engaging in well, a three-way I suppose. It’s good, it’s very Weber.
