We previously featured ColdStream when they took us on a charming and emotive trip with their cinematic and dimensional sophomore single, Wilcom’s Inn, so when we found out that the band was back with Paradise, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.

Paradise opens with the band’s signature dynamic energy and a high emotional quotient with anthemic padded drums. The instrumentation is sublime and creates a cohesive tapestry of sound that reminds us of Bob Dylan or Fleetwood Mac, perfect for cinema. We could imagine Paradise locking in a plethora of sync placements, perhaps something like a remake of The Beach, The Blue Lagoon, or even Fantasy Island.

It would be the type of song that you play as soon as you land at your holiday destination in the Maldives or Costa Rica. The track makes us feel emotional, in part to the organ riffs and stings arrangement, but also the fact that the world is in so much turmoil right now, Paradise is something we all need. As much as the track is about chasing escape, it also reflects on the idea that paradise might already be nearby. The instrumental segues and middle eight are absolutely awe-inspiring.

ColdStream is a five-piece band from Frederick, Maryland. We learn that the group formed when five strangers found instant chemistry. Each bandmate comes from a different musical path – from campfire storytelling to brass training and rock rebellion.

This diversity is what shapes ColdStream’s sound. Their genre-expansive music fuses blues, rock, funk, soul and Americana. They tell us how they are guided by their motto, “find the groove, live in the pocket, make something that means something”. The band is releasing monthly singles leading up to their debut LP in summer 2026.

Establishing the mood with an astral mouth organ performance, expanding into a luscious and dimensional guitar-driven, blues-tinged, alternative country soundscape, ColdStream open Wilcom’s Inn with situational prose and a captivating narrative.

We love the strings arrangement, adding a high emotional quotient to the opus, and the charm that the prose exudes tapping into notions of love, human connection and our shared lived eperience. The track feels relatable and holds a cinematic allure, perfect for a range of sync deals – perhaps a movie like The Wrong Paris.

The rain-soaked middle eight is delicate and poetic, we appreciate the spoken word moments and the stripped back nature where the piano gets to shine before a stunning reprise with gruff vocals juxtaposed with luscious cosmic harmonies.

We learn that ColdStream formed in 2021 from a Facebook post seeking musicians. The members come from diverse musical backgrounds, including campfire sing-alongs, high school band experience and formal training like Juilliard.

Multi-instrumentalist Pete Wiley plays guitar, bass, and drums while also handling sound and photography. The band emphasizes chemistry, collaboration, and groove in both their recordings and live performances.

Needless to say, we are in awe of ColdStream, and the dimensionality of Wilcom’s Inn, and have added the track to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the band’s debut single, Fight Song, and anticipate future releases!
