Drawing us in with a dimensional alt-country guitar soundscape with textured drums and instrumental mastery, Troy Landon opens Climb That Mountain with notions of timelessness and the lyrics, “I’ve had bills stacked high on the kitchen table, bad news ringing through the phone, and dreams get cracked like old paint peeling on a house I built from hope…”

The opus expands with further metaphorical depth and cinematic allure. We could imagine Climb That Mountain being featured in a film like The Wrong Paris, or the Oscar-winning One Battle After Another that reflects the narrative of the lyrics. The connection with source that manifests is inspiring as Troy Landon delivers a conscious ode to what faith can do.

Speaking on the inspirations for this release, Troy Landon confesses, “My songwriting and creative direction have been influenced by many of the country artists I’ve listened to over the years, including Johnny Cash, Travis Tritt, Kenny Rogers, Clint Black, Aaron Tippin, Sammy Kershaw, Collin Raye, Merle Haggard, and many others. What has always stood out to me about these artists is their ability to tell meaningful stories through songs that feel honest, relatable, and grounded in real human experiences.” We can absolutely feel these come to life, and appreciate the contemporary mix for a song inspired by such classic legends.

On his message, Troy adds, “Climb That Mountain grew from a simple philosophy I strongly believe in: life is going to put mountains in front of all of us, and sometimes the only thing we can control is whether we keep climbing. Everyone faces struggles, setbacks, loss, doubt, or moments when the road ahead seems almost impossible, and I wanted to write a song that could speak to people going through those moments.”

Needless to say, we deeply vibe with what has been created. For some background, Troy Landon is a virtual country artist created by songwriter and producer David Rader through Thunderstrike Records. With a growing catalogue of purpose-driven music, the project represents a new generation of independent country artists.

We have added Climb That Mountain to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Troy Landon‘s growing discography, including Clock In, Still Here, and Nothing Comforts Me Anymore, and anticipate future releases from the virtual star in the making.
