Setting the tone with glistening keys and an immersive guitar melody, Carolee Rainey opens her single Serendipity with the conceptual lyrics, “Like the sun, wraps its rays around the trees, I thought you were my destiny, holding me with your light…”

We are charmed by the artist’s energy and conscious flow, as Serendipity expands into an indie pop meets soft rock opus as Carolee Rainey connects with celestial bodies and love energy with her lyricism.

The rising artist tells us, “When I wrote Serendipity I used nature as my inspiration. As a human race our behaviors have been so unpredictable these last many years that I used the sun, moon and rain as teachers to learn from to transcend my own inner weaknesses into strength.”

When Carolee Rainey was a teenager, she ran away from the music conservatory she was attending, hopped on a train with her guitar and a small bag of belongings and headed West.

She wound up at a hotel in Glacier National Park performing nightly shows with other music students. When the snow came that fall, she hitched a ride to Santa Cruz, California and slept on the streets while performing daily as a street singer and nightly with different jazz and country bands.

After a few years of touring around the West playing dive bars, hotels, and cruise ships, she ended up in Los Angeles getting a job in A&R on the West Coast for Country Nashville.

All her past experiences and zest for life have converged in an inspiring upcoming 10-song album Synchronicity, of which Serendipity is the first single.

Speaking on her conscious record, Carolee says, “Somewhere within each of the ten songs there is always an element of love and relationships being talked about. There are so many different realms of love and I wanted to capture as many as possible.” 

We learn that the album blends influences from Joni Mitchell and Ella Fitzgerald to Brandi Carlisle and Ed Sheeran, although it is clear that Carolee Rainey is creating a universe of her own, fusing her contemporary sound with a sense of nostalgia.
