Immersing us in a hybrid frequency of punk and metal, Call in Dead open their song Patriarchy with the poignant lyrics, “He told you, don’t feel, don’t cry, don’t think, be a man, don’t fear, don’t love, just hate, be a man…”

Delivered emotively with a subversive and open-minded energy from the band, we are obsessed with the soundscape and message of the anthem.

Patriarchy is the first single recorded by Call in Dead with their new singer, Ripley who delivers authentic aggression and powerful lyrics.

The song comes out at a perfect time for the Floridian outfit as their governor has just passed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill which has serious potential ramifications for the LGBTQ+ community.

“Don’t be so sensitive, boys will be boys” screams the band introspectively, referencing the persecution the community receives with the imposition of strict gender binaries from society and the institution.

The band is made up of four veteran punk rockers, one from DC, one from New Jersey and the others two from Florida, who bring their different music experiences and styles together to make “a sound that should be familiar to fans of hardcore punk while also giving it the uniqueness that comes from blending their past together into the present”.

Seeking to deconstruct the violence of the gender binary is very important work for the spiritual revolution, so we are grateful to experience Patriarchy from Call in Dead and have added it to our New Music Spotlight playlist!
