“You know I know, we belong together, baby…” sings an ethereal female dance vocalist, accompanied by Bekim!‘s pulsating beat and melodic soundscape, tapping into a Eurodance frequency, as We Belong Together draws us in.

We appreciate the dimensionality and the repeating prose which feels like a mantra for manifesting human connection. The soundscape is vibrant, high octane and playful. We connect with the timeless notions and the Ibiza friendly vibes that fans of Vengaboys will be able to vibe with.

For some background, Bekim! is a German-based producer. He designs feel-good electronic and pop music rooted in nostalgia and emotional connection. Active since the 1990s, he started with vinyl collecting and mixtape culture.

He confesses how We Belong Together is inspired by early-2000s Eurodance, and how he seeks to create an uplifting, euphoric, and optimistic frequency that avoids “aggressive club energy.” The repetition is meant to give it a hypnotic, loopable quality.

We recently wrote about Bekim!‘s heartfelt and emotive single Close Your Eyes, so we were thrilled to hear that the German producer was releasing Next To Me!

Immersing us with celestial textures and a vivid high synth melody fused with a smooth vocal, Bekim! opens his latest single, Next to Me with the romantic lyrics, “Every time we’re together it feels like new, and I cherish each moment I spend with you…”

The song expands into a 2000s hybrid pop-R&B vibe, with scattered and nuanced vocal details, a great hook and a luxurious main vocals fused with mesmerizing and high end production.

There are elements of the song that remind us of 112 and Luniz, but it is clear that Bekim! is designing a universe of his own.

Speaking on the meaning of Next to Me, Bekim! says it is “a positive vibe, about being in love and cherishing it.” We love the emotion that the producer conveys with his soundscape and his penchant for R&B nostalgia with a 2022 edge.

He leaves us with some words of inspiration, “If you hold on to your dream you will eventually make it. Just don’t give up.”

Setting the vibe with electric keys and cerebral and panning percussion, Bekim! opens his latest release, Close Your Eyes with the enigmatic and romantic lyrics, “close your eyes, make it right, cos I need you to be with me…”

Bekim!‘s writes and produces all of his songs and the vocal production of Close Your Eyes has a luxurious tonality and expression akin to icons like Boyz II Men. We discovered that during his school days, Bekim! was already writing rap lyrics and loved to make bootlegs from cassettes. Putting his 10,000 hours in at a young age, immediately after he finished school, he set up a small recording studio and taught himself harmony and how to play the keyboard.

In Close Your Eyes, the rising artist reflects on “the one” and generates a frequency of genuine love energy with his soundscape. The song features a classic R&B vibe, reminiscent of the 90s or 00s, but with modern production. Fans of Jodeci, Charlie Puth and Boyz II Men, would definitely relate to Bekim!‘s emotive and romantic ode to love.

Bekim! has worked on countless projects as a composer, songwriter, producer, arranger and engineer. Some more well known projects include 2-BPM, Couche-Tard, KMS, 2 Deep, El Toro and Real 7, to name a few.

Speaking on his influences, Bekim! cites “50s Rock ‘n’ Roll, Shakin’ Stevens, 80s Classic Rock and 90s R&B like Jodeci, Lemar, Beverley Knight and 90s Eurodance” which makes perfect sense when immersing ourselves in the rising artist’s work. When discussing the depth of the track with us, he says the intention is to create “a positive vibe about being in love and cherishing it”.
