We recently featured SidekoDJ as he celebrated freedom, hedonism and Hollywood iconography with a captivating cover of Selena Gomez’s Sunset Blvd, so when we heard that he was back with Be Still, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.

Drawing us in with a tropical pop energy with an airy riser and atmospheric vocals, SidekoDJ opens Be Still with the conscious and introspective lyrics, “Try to grasp, it slips again, what’s real right now where have I been? Hold steady breathe strong, but some days I’m close to losing it all…”

The song feels intentional and cathartic. Consciously astute in many ways, but also reflective and self-realized. The expansion of the soundscape is dimensional and danceable – tapping into a radio-friendly soft EDM-pop-house energy.

We deeply connect with the high spiritual quotient of the lyrics. The instrumental interlude is trippy and meditative as the same time. There is definitely a psychedelic adjacency that manifests with the middle eight and cerebral astral flute moments that feel like we are leaving this realm.

We learn that the lyrics are designed to explore the chaos of the digital age, tapping into notions of feeling wired, overloaded, and on edge even when everything appears fine. The lyrics move through confusion, disconnection, slipping between screens, noise and doubt. It offers not a cure but a portrait of days when you’re close to losing it all.
