<p>We previously featured <a href="https://karlismyunkle.com/2025/11/20/barde-shares-a-cinematic-and-emotional-cover-of-misfits-iconic-hit-dig-up-her-bones/">barDe when she shared a cinematic and emotional cover of Misfits’ iconic hit, Dig Up Her Bones</a>, so when we heard that the rising star was back with the provocatively titled,<strong><em> C U Next Tuesday</em></strong>, we were curious to say the least, and couldn&#8217;t wait to listen and share our experience. </p>

<p>Opening with a strummed guitar soundscape and astral frequency with 80s adjacent vocalizations and a pulsating beat, <strong>barDe</strong> opens<strong><em> C U Next Tuesday</em></strong> with an all too familiar narrative as she sings, &#8220;Just smile cos you look prettier, he says, cos he&#8217;s hitting on her, come on, you know to&#8230;&#8221;</p>

<p>We deeply connect with the poignancy of the prose, and <strong>barDe</strong>&#8216;s cinematic delivery. There is no doubt that <strong><em>C U Next Tuesday</em></strong> would be perfect for a multitude of sync placements, notably a Hollywood movie or TV that reflects the themes of the lyrics. </p>

<p><strong>barDe</strong> tells us how<strong><em> C U Next Tuesday</em></strong> is designed to serve as a bold and defiant commentary about standing up to patriarchal patterning. With her narrative-driven storytelling, laced with poetic prowess, she brings to life the lived experience of women around the world. There is a nostalgic timelessness to the soundscape, and we can imagine that fans of Fleetwood Mac would really be able to connect with <strong><em>C U Next Tuesday</em></strong>. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1020" height="1020" src="https://i0.wp.com/karlismyunkle.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CU_Nxt_Tues_artwork_low.jpeg?resize=1020%2C1020&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-54390" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/karlismyunkle.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CU_Nxt_Tues_artwork_low.jpeg?resize=1020%2C1020&amp;ssl=1 1020w, https://i0.wp.com/karlismyunkle.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CU_Nxt_Tues_artwork_low.jpeg?resize=632%2C632&amp;ssl=1 632w, https://i0.wp.com/karlismyunkle.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CU_Nxt_Tues_artwork_low.jpeg?resize=768%2C768&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/karlismyunkle.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CU_Nxt_Tues_artwork_low.jpeg?resize=100%2C100&amp;ssl=1 100w, https://i0.wp.com/karlismyunkle.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CU_Nxt_Tues_artwork_low.jpeg?resize=1536%2C1536&amp;ssl=1 1536w, https://i0.wp.com/karlismyunkle.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CU_Nxt_Tues_artwork_low.jpeg?resize=2048%2C2048&amp;ssl=1 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<p>The tempo shift for the middle eight is sublime, and invites further introspection into the message as <strong style="white-space: normal;">barDe</strong> sings, &#8220;You gotta learn that no means no&#8230;&#8221;. </p>

<p><strong><em>C U Next Tuesday</em></strong> is culturally important because it turns everyday experiences of sexism, such as backhanded compliments, pressure to “smile” or being told to “calm down” into a collective feminist statement. </p>

<p>It centres the idea that “no is a complete sentence” and incorporates phrases that were contributed by more than 100 women. The song transforms these individual moments of frustration into a shared catharsis, and it is empowering at its core. </p>

<p>Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added <strong><em>C U Next Tuesday</em></strong> to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream <strong style="white-space: normal;">barDe</strong>&#8216;s exquisite, growing discography, including <strong><em>What the Hell Hey, </em></strong>and<strong><em> Next to Last Girl. </em></strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-spotify wp-block-embed-spotify wp-embed-aspect-21-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe title="Spotify Embed: Dig up Her Bones" style="border-radius: 12px" width="100%" height="152" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen allow="autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture" loading="lazy" src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/2nLwB1oSmcg2yKWSvdbuRK?si=6ff4621b86bf4c40&#038;utm_source=oembed"></iframe>
</div></figure>

<p>Establishing the mood with a luscious astral frequency and intimately strummed acoustic guitar, <strong>barDe</strong> opens her cover of <strong>Misfits</strong>&#8216;<strong><em> Dig Up Her Bones</em></strong> with the iconic, conceptual lyrics, &#8220;Anything is what she is, anywhere is where she&#8217;s from, anything is what she&#8217;ll be, anything as long as it&#8217;s mine&#8230;&#8221;</p>

<p>The opus expands with a high emotional quotient to tell the tale of an obsessive devotion to a mysterious, almost supernatural woman. Akin to <strong>Misfits</strong>, <strong>barDe</strong> is consumed by her presence, willing to follow her anywhere, even as lies, secrets and darkness surround their connection. She feels otherworldly &#8211; both a refuge and a threat.</p>

<p>The song is quite existential too, it also explores death, longing and the desire to resurrect what’s been lost. Imagery of graveyards, demons and burned roses suggests notions of grief twisted with fascination. <strong>barDe</strong> wants to dig up her bones, symbolically or literally, to reclaim what death has taken, showing how love and obsession blur into horror.</p>

<p>There is a cinematic allure to the cover, and we could imagine it being performed at The Bronze in <strong>Buffy The Vampire Slayer </strong>&#8211; perhaps in the upcoming reboot! <strong>barDe</strong>&#8216;s vocal range is sublime and we deeply connect with energy that manifests with the expansive alternative rock nature of the production. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="1020" height="576" src="https://i0.wp.com/karlismyunkle.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Dig_Up_Her_Bones.jpeg?resize=1020%2C576&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-52075" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/karlismyunkle.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Dig_Up_Her_Bones.jpeg?resize=1020%2C576&amp;ssl=1 1020w, https://i0.wp.com/karlismyunkle.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Dig_Up_Her_Bones.jpeg?resize=632%2C357&amp;ssl=1 632w, https://i0.wp.com/karlismyunkle.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Dig_Up_Her_Bones.jpeg?resize=768%2C433&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/karlismyunkle.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Dig_Up_Her_Bones.jpeg?w=2000&amp;ssl=1 2000w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<p>Aptly released on Halloween, <strong>barDe</strong> confesses, &#8220;For me, this delves into what keeps us digging through memory for what can’t be revived, the compulsion to reach for what’s gone and how that can drive us to madness. It explores how we move through grief, how obsession can become devotion, and ultimately forces us to face our own mortality.&#8221;</p>

<p><strong>barDe</strong>’s new 2025 reimagining, recorded and produced with <strong>Chris Pepper at Saltwell Studios</strong>, honours the band’s goth-horror legacy whilst transforming the song into something softer and more spectral. As you can tell, we are in awe, and have added the cover of <strong><em>Dig Up Her Bones</em></strong> to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, as we continue to stream <strong>barDe</strong>&#8216;s wider discography, including <strong><em>Next to Last Girl, </em></strong>and<strong><em> What the Hell Hey. </em></strong></p>
