Our obsession with Aurealis seems to grow with every listen. We previously featured Aurealis as he explored fragility, change, and emotional resilience with his poetic single, Fire in Rain, so when we found out that the rising artist was back with Cursed, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.

Cursed opens with a rising frequency, expanding into a dimensional synthscape with 80s-influence as Aurealis shares the lyrics, “I don’t wanna be the one, to have to break the news to you, that everything you try to do, is only gonna backfire, I don’t wanna be the one to say that your dreams won’t come true, so many things you wanna do will end in disappointment…”

We appreciate the vulnerability and self-realized notions, as well as the tasteful production (as always!). As for the message of the song, Cursed is about hopelessness and self-doubt. It explores the feeling of being trapped by an inner voice that insists that every dream, goal, or possibility is destined to fail before it even begins.

From a wisdom standpoint, it is inspiring that the song turns inwards and examines the psychological struggle between despair and the desire to keep believing in a better future. It feels like it could apply on an individual level as well as on a universal level. We could imagine it in a film like The Hunger Games, Divergent, or The Fault in Our Stars.

The song continues Aurealis’s broader artistic theme of exploring love, loss, resilience, and moments of personal transformation through his unique brand of cinematic storytelling. It even comes with a music video which is intended to be an essential part of the experience.

The visuals use mirrors, shadows, and a mysterious presence to represent the song’s themes of fear, inner darkness, and psychological conflict. It’s truly a masterpiece. We love what Aurealis is creating, and have added Cursed to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Aurealis including Fire in Rain, and Shadow of a Doubt.

We previously featured Aurealis for tapping into a high emotional quotient with the cinematic, narrative-driven single, Shadow of a Doubt, so when we heard that the artist was back with Fire in Rain, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.

Fire in Rain opens with a glistening and immersive guitar and synthscape, dimensional in design, and intricate in its execution. We appreciate the emotive chord progressions, as well as the airy riser leading to the lyrics, “We’re like fire in rain, wanna burn but can’t maintain the flame, like fire in rain, waiting for the sun to shine again, I can’t believe how things have changed…”

Naturally, the vocals are pristine, in part due to the technology used to create the track. The lyrics are poetic and relatable, once again cinematic and perfect for a range of sync placements, notably a film about two lovers who are caught in a similar juxtaposition – perhaps Anora, or Anyone But You.

There is something rather zeitgeist about the lyrics too, as much as they can be interpreted to be about a couple, they can also serve as a commentary on society as a whole. The instrumental segue before the ethereal finale allows for introspection and invites us to connect with the detailed production.

Speaking on the release, Aurealis confesses, “At its heart, the song is about people – about the fragile but persistent spark we all try to protect as life changes around us. It speaks to longing, resilience, beauty, and the quiet hope that even after loss, something warm and alive can still remain.”

Overall, the idea is that when the sun rises, we can indeed come together and watch these embers glow. We love the metaphorical depth of the track, and have added Fire in Rain to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Aurealis, including Shadow of a Doubt, and Closer.

Drawing us in with a celestial synthscape crescendo featuring dimensional risers and textured drums, Aurealis opens Shadow of a Doubt with intrigue and the vulnerable prose, “I fumble my words when you walk in the room, never know what to say, never know what to do, what kind of magic did you cast on me to make me lose my thoughts so easily?”

We appreciate the dynamism of the production, the percussion nuances, the intricacy and the warm vocal delivery with a relatable message. Shadow of a Doubt holds a cinematic allure, making it perfect for a multitude of sync placements, notably a club scene in a TV show like Heated Rivalry, My Life with the Walter Boys, or Heartstopper.

We appreciate the poetic prowess and the timelessness of the lyrics. As for the intention of the song, Shadow of a Doubt is designed to explore “the fragile space where love still exists, but uncertainty begins to creep in.”

In essence, Shadow of a Doubt describes the experience of developing romantic feelings for someone, but struggling to express them. Aurealis feels nervous and awkward whenever his muse is nearby. He loses words, avoids eye contact, and feels physically anxious.

At first, Aurealis questions whether the feelings are real or just confusion, but recognizes a clear “electric chemistry” and becomes more certain that the connection is genuine. The chorus emphasizes confidence. The repeated line “beyond the shadow of a doubt” shows how Aurealis believes the relationship has real potential. Both characters are introverts, afraid to make the first move, and this uncertainty, mutual attraction, and the gradual shift from self-doubt to emotional clarity is what makes the song super relatable.

The cinematic music video that accompanies the song takes place in a bust nightclub, where two people gradually drift apart amidst the rising noise and chaos around them. This brings the narrative to life perfectly.

Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Shadow of a Doubt to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Aurealis, including Porcelain, and Closer.
