We previously featured Antoin Gibson for the sublimely cinematic and subversive dark-pop anthem, Venom-Laced Tears, so when we heard that the rising star was back with a provocative new single titled, Diss Tribute, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.

Diss Tribute opens with a haunting synthscape and a signature production tag ad-lib of “Circum—Sonus Surrounds” before expanding with a fierce and assertive flow and the lyrics, “I peered into the psyche, to give you psychoanalytical, breaking down the severity of society being hypocritical…”

In essence, the song is brilliantly written and poignantly reflects on modern society through a psychological lens. Antoin questions whether freedom of expression and democratic ideals truly exist.

It serves as a commentary on the deep state and suggests that public speech and visibility are shaped by systems of control. The lyrics highlight a disparity between open communication and the algorithm. It’s also a clear manifestation of Antoin’s sentiment as an outsider by choice.

One of the main themes of the track is its critique of social media and online fame. It portrays it as a competitive space driven by payola and artificial visibility rather than genuine talent. The idea of success is shown as something increasingly purchased or manufactured. Sure it seems that Antoin is disillusioned, but also factually correct and super real in what she delivers.

In line with the artist’s genius and philosophical prowess, Antoin says, “Rather than chasing platform validation, Diss Tribute enters through sync – already placed via Tinderbox Music across networks including PBS, MTV (The Challenge), The Discovery Network, and NASCAR Productions, with further alignment through Ocho Music Group. Our obsession with Antoin Gibson seems to grow with every listen. We recently featured the rising artist for her introspective and cinematic new single, Dead End, so when we heard that Antoin was back with the brilliantly titled, Venom-Laced Tears, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.

Drawing us in with atmospheric vocalizations, a whirring bassline and pulsating beat with an ad-lib tag of Circum-Sŏnus and breathy details, Antoin Gibson opens Venom-Laced Tears with the dimensionality that we have come to appreciate from the project.

Antoin’s signature high concept poetic prowess comes into play with the opening prose, “Shedding skin deep is as far as my concentration could care for you, teardrops of venom cleanse the disease by disintegrating you…”

The opus expands to utilize heavy imagery of poison, snakes and biblical references to explore notions of a toxic, manipulative relationship. Antoin presents herself as someone dangerous and emotionally corrosive,

We love the key metaphor of tears that act like venom to destroy the other person. The lyricism suggests transformation and emotional damage, whilst Antoin is aware that her presence contaminates the other person, yet she embraces that destructive identity.

There is a cinematic allure that manifests, and there is no doubt that Venom-Laced Tears would be perfect for a sync placement in a film like the upcoming sequel to Jennifer’s Body, or a pivotal scene in a TV show like Euphoria on HBO.

Major themes of the track are narcissism and power. Repeated lines about being the “forbidden fruit” and thriving in being “dissolute” suggest that Antoin enjoys being desired and tempting others, even whilst acknowledging her own moral decay.

Overall, the song feels like a dark self-portrait of someone who weaponizes attraction and emotional manipulation. By the end, the imagery of fangs, prey, and being “wrapped up in me” reinforce the idea that anyone drawn to Antoin inevitably becomes entangled and consumed by this toxic love. It is brilliantly produced and the dark-pop ethereal vibes are sublime.

We previously featured Antoin Gibson for the subversive and rebellious track, F U Society, so when we heard that the provocative artist was back with Dead End, we couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves and share our experience.

Establishing the mood with an intimate and cinematic piano performance with hummed breathy ad-libs, Antoin Gibson opens Dead End with poetic prowess and the lyrics, “How can such mesmerising beauty, keep leading to Hope’s End? Winds of change carry such sweet serenity, I follow for reasons I cannot comprehend…”

We appreciate the artist’s delicate timbre and the captivating flow that manifests. The metaphorical depth is tangible, and we really connect with the prophetic themes that tap into the human experience. The message feels personal, but also universally zeitgeist – at a time when self-reflection can only help us create a peaceful future.

There is no doubt that Dead End would be perfect for a range of sync deals – an apocalypse film with a coming-of-age narrative tied in, or perhaps an episode of the upcoming season of Euphoria on HBO.

In essence, Dead End is about notions of chasing hope but being met with disappointment. Antoin feels born with a broken inner compass, but seeks love, freedom and meaning. Illusions of beauty and promise keep pulling us forwards, even as time runs out. Watching others find their way deepens sentiments of envy and isolation. In the end, this hope fades into exhaustion, and the acceptance of a dead end feels easier than continuing to struggle.

Speaking on the release of Dead End, Antoin Gibson confesses, “This song spilled out in raw fragments. It’s a song about losing direction, losing language, losing structure… and still having to move through the world anyway.”

We note that Dead End marks the first time that the artist appears unmasked on the cover artwork. This is aligned with the more self-realized energy of the song. Antoin Gibson is a London-based artist and founder of Circum-Sŏnus (referenced as a tag at the beginning of the track). The project rooted in cinematic sound design, experimental pop structures and long-form artistic world-building.

We are enthralled by the rising star’s timbre and flow, and Antoin’s message of “F**K YOU SOCIETY!” which serves as “a verbal decapitation of systemic rot.” There is no doubt that society today is, and should be, open to critique. We live in an era of serious corruption, where artists are being silenced for speaking up against evil, Antoin is here to break that down!

There is a war on consciousness and Antoin Gibson is here to share a defiant message, to awaken us all. The British artist confesses, “F U Society is a fearless diss track that blends political hip-hop, conscious rap, and gritty trap into a verbal takedown of corporate rot and societal suppression.”

Antoin continues, “Written from personal experience, this track flips pain into power, delivering unfiltered bars and sharp satire in a world drowning in silence. It’s for listeners tired of gimmicks and craving truth. I wrote this on my notepad while out and about just after having some success and instantly being repressed by big organisations who completely shadow-banned my account for fighting against their suppression with hard evidence.”

The production remains looped and consistent throughout which reflects the lack of progress we are experiencing as a collective. There are moments of silence to allow the artist’s message to transpire further and truly be heard. One of our favourite lyrics to summarise the song is the self-realized observation and Antoin’s purpose is, “It’s a vocal message to those who think they’ve won, just because you shut me down, you think I’ll ever give up and be done?”

Fans of Little Simz, Run the Jewels, JPEGMAFIA, and Kae Tempest might be able to connect with what Antoin Gibson is delivering, but there is no doubt that the fierce Londoner is tapping into a conscious frequency unto their own. We appreciate the visceral truth that is brought to life, relating to technology, their philosophical values and perception of reality.
