With a sharp riser, Ali Pips opens her new single Vicious Ballet with the lyrics, “Breathe in, and put this suit back on again, wasting my time trying to rake in something I don’t want, I know you’ll still give it to me, the show that you’ll be sold is an illusion but I’ll make it magical…”

With poetic nuance, and a cerebral mindset fused with a thrashing alt-rock-hybrid soundscape with elements of baroque, we are already mesmerized by Vicious Ballet.

Ali Pips has a sometimes chaotic, sometimes primal energy which is almost always marked with conscious genius. Her aim is to “explore the darker parts of the human psyche.“

We love the emotive journey that the song takes us on, particularly the appearance of the dramatic piano as one of the protagonists of the composition.

As the song expands and contracts, we enjoy the diversity of the sonic landscape and the way the instrumentation reacts to the rising artist’s poignant lyricism.

“I’ll work my voodoo…” sings the self-aware artist who takes us through waves of the human condition described as “a masterclass in tension and release”.  Vicious Ballet is a spellbinding adventure and we are in awe of the rising artist’s passion and assertive nature.
