Most of you will probably know that a couple of months ago, David Lynch curated/designed/opened a venue in Paris called Silencio. The concept is literally beyond – it is inspired by the Club Silencio in Mulholland Drive dubbed as a “nightclub-cum-salon-cum-laboratory of the weird”. The curiosity salon (hosted four times a year) allows a selection of artists from different genres and themes takes over the club and provide installations, performances etc.
From the 6th to 11th December 2011, The Salon of Magical curiosity curated by Marie Audran with Olivier Pilz is set to launch and will feature various installations, a photo exhibition by Thomas Devaux, performances (Laurent Beretta, Sucre d’Orge, Raphaëlle Boitel, La Compagnie 14: 20), cinema showings around the theme of magic, stage performances, human levitation and short films by the incredible Georges Méliès – you can view his film A Trip to the Moon / Le Voyage dans la lune – 1902 below. Méliès has recently had an invigoration of pop culture fame due to Scorcese’s latest film Hugo which is based on the filmmaker’s true story.
