Thomas Deed and Steffi capture this tension with an authentic emotionality.

We love how the composition gradually builds with the multi-part choruses adding a theatrical quality to the narrative. The warm pop-rock instrumentation and blues influences with additional strings create a nostalgic sensibility too. Thomas and Steffi complement one another beautifully. Their vocal interplay gives the track a conversational quality that makes it feel almost like we are witnessing two people finally admitting what they have always felt. The key change also really amplifies the emotional energy of the song and taps into our heart’s centre.

We previously featured Andrei British for bringing to life retro-futuristic charm with a playful space-age jazz edge on Alien Jazz Girl, so when we heard that Andrei was back with Distant Moon Cantina, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in his creative universe once more.

Distant Moon Cantina opens with a guitar riff, melodic keys, astral saxophone and cosmic electric nuances as we experience seductive, situational prose painting a vivid image of a futuristic place and Andrei’s sublime muse. The lyrics are laced with poetic prowess and create a cinematic world where we feel aligned with Andrei’s every emotion.

We could imagine Distant Moon Cantina being featured in a movie like Men In Black, or Serenity, and we also learn that it was inspired by Star Wars. It would also be a great fit for Guardians of the Galaxy, particularly during a scene where the characters find themselves in an intergalactic watering hole surrounded by mythical creatures, neon lights and somewhat questionable decisions.

There is something wonderfully theatrical about the way Andrei constructs this universe. Distant Moon Cantina feels like an invitation to step inside another dimension. We appreciate the way classic jazz sensibilities collide with futuristic sound design, creating a smoky, seductive and slightly rebellious atmosphere.

There is also a fascinating vocal quality to the composition that reminds us of Rob Thomas and Matchbox Twenty, particularly when combined with the melodic Latin-rock sensibility associated with Santana. That fusion gives Distant Moon Cantina a surprisingly warm and human centre beneath all of the cosmic detailing.

We love how Distant Moon Cantina feels both nostalgic and futuristic. It taps into the timeless fantasy of disappearing into a bar somewhere far beyond Earth, where dreamers, outsiders and renegades can forget about the world. In that sense, this feels super zeitgeist and taps into a sentiment that we all share at present.

We immediately connect with the high emotional quotient that manifests. There is something incredibly human about the way ARI4 transforms vulnerability into something reassuring. She takes us on a journey through trauma bonding, emotional wounds and the complicated relationships.

In essence, COLORS is about recognising that being broken doesn’t mean that we are beyond repair. ARI4 beautifully captures the idea that pain can become part of our story. The message feels particularly poignant and culturally zeitgeist as she sings, “We are all broken, but it’s okay… Just pick your colors, come and play.”

Speaking on the inspiration behind the release, ARI4 confesses, “I wrote COLORS with a close friend during a writing session that quickly turned into us opening up about our deepest wounds.” The rising artist continues, “We ended up talking about trauma bonding: how easy it is to connect with someone over shared pain, and how heavy it can feel.”

The production is super compelling. We love how it builds into an expansive, indie-pop energy, creating a cohesive tapestry of sound. We could imagine it being performed at The Bronze in an episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and the track even has a fade out to boot, which is unique for a song made in 2026!

We could easily imagine COLORS landing a sync placement in a coming-of-age film like Lady Bird or The Perks of Being a Wallflower, particularly during a moment where a character is beginning to understand their wounds and realise that healing doesn’t require becoming somebody else. It could also work beautifully in a series like Normal People. There is an evident sense of catharsis and syncopated psychedelia that manifests which reminds us of bands like Hole, Garbage and Alanis Morissette.

We also appreciate the organic story behind the composition. What began as a routine writing assignment at BPM College with Daisy Rogozinski unexpectedly became a deeply personal creative experience, eventually leading ARI4 into an internal process of change. With lyrics by ARI4 and Daisy Rogozinski, melody from ARI4 and BLONDY, and production and arrangement by BLONDY and RESHAKE, the track feels like a genuine collaborative expression of vulnerability, resilience and hope.

Our obsession with Sean Tweedley seems to grow with every listen. We last featured Sean for his playful charm and philosophical depth on Ooola Hooora, so when we heard that he was back with Always the Same, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.

Always the Same opens with an acoustic guitar riff and layered 60s vocalizations tapping into notions of nostalgia as Sean sings, “It’s always the same, in a world, covered in pearls, green, red, blue and black and grey, a beautiful day, a powerful way…”. The track switches tempo to a more trippy and psychedelic energy as Sean sings that change always comes around again. We appreciate the glistening tones and how the composition ebbs and flows between dynamic and trippy notions.

Sean’s timbre is brooding and textured, and there is no doubt that fans of The Beatles would be able to connect with what Sean has created with Always the Same. He confesses, “Always the Same is an upbeat, fun and contemplative song that looks at a world full of cycles and endless repetitions through the eyes or lens of someone who doesn’t get to participate in them, for better or worse.”

We deeply connect with the philosophical depth that manifests, and could imagine Always the Same being featured in a TV show like PLUR1BUS or Nine Perfect Strangers that both tap into psychedelic notions, or a film like the recent Oscar-winning, One Battle After Another. Always the Same would also make for perfect listening poolside on the rooftop of Petit Ermitage in West Hollywood, where songs of this nature often find their home.

There is something inherently cinematic about the way Sean moves between nostalgia and psychedelia. The shifting tempo almost mirrors the cyclical nature of the narrative. We also appreciate the wonderfully human DIY ethos behind the project. Sean has been composing music since 2023 and operates as a true one-man show, writing, recording, mixing and mastering every track from his home studio.

That independence seems to manifest through the music itself, with raw authenticity and organic instrumentation giving Always the Same a warmth that more polished productions can sometimes lose. Generational Trauma feels like an act of recognition. It is a call-to-consciousness, about identifying the cycles, understanding where they come from and finding the courage to break them. It feels super cathartic, the tempo shift with slurred vibes is absolutely genius, and we love the sax-laden finale with a fade out.

Fans of The Cure, Future Islands, Blur, Pulp and Pinback will be able to connect with the sonic world that Memoryy is creating, although there is a distinctly contemporary polish that prevents the track from feeling like pure nostalgia. We could easily imagine Generational Trauma landing a sync placement in a series like Sex Education, Euphoria, or something more psychedelic like Nine Perfect Strangers, as one of the plant medicine participants seeks to address their inner turmoil. It could also work beautifully in a coming-of-age film like The Perks of Being a Wallflower or Lady Bird.

What makes the track even more compelling is the context surrounding Memoryy and his upcoming album EXIT INTERVIEW. We learn that the record documents the aftermath of divorce and the process of rebuilding a life from the ground up. This makes Generational Trauma feel like part of a bigger story.

For some background, Memoryy is the indie-pop project of award-winning composer Shaun Hettinger, whose impressive body of work has extended into Netflix, film, television, global brand campaigns and winning Best Pop Album at the 2026 New Mexico Music Awards.

Cowboy Cadillac opens with a timeless country guitar soundscape that immediately evokes notions of the open road. The band shares the lyrics, “Out on the prairie where the sage brush grows, a rusted truck with a busted nose, but I got a dream yeah I got a knack for turning that heap into a Cowboy Cadillac…”

The composition expands with dynamic instrumentation and an infectious rhythmic backbone to take us on a journey that feels both literal and metaphorical. It serves as a story of turning a rusty old car that might look like junk to everyone else, into a polished expression of refined escapism. We love the idea that style isn’t about what something costs but about the freedom and identity that it represents.

There are clear echoes of Blackberry Smoke and 49 Winchester in the sonic energy, whilst the rhythmic sensibility brings to mind Dierks Bentley. The Jyväskylä-based band most certainly bring their own character to the Americana tradition.

It has that cinematic quality and is flawlessly executed in its production. Cowboy Cadillac feels like a celebration of finding beauty in the imperfect; it is uplifting and memorable. The vocal harmonies are sublime and create a high emotional quotient that inspires us to embrace evolution and the raw and authentic nature of the human experience.

Grainville Train have been building their modern country rock sound since forming in Jyväskylä, Finland in 2008. Their growing international recognition includes being semi-finalists in the 2026 Unsigned Only Music Awards and the 2025 International Songwriting Competition, alongside winning the 2026 It’s Now Radio UK Award for most-voted song.

The emergence of a piano for the outro is a nice addition that feels grounding with its subtle arpeggios before a final airy riser bringing us full circle to the textured beat.

Thematically, Love We Made serves as a meditation on memory, connection and the permanence of consciousness. It is designed with the idea of inviting us to project our own memories and emotional experiences onto the soundscape. The production is impressive, and we could imagine Love We Made landing a sync placement in a psychedelic TV show like Nine Perfect Strangers or PLUR1BUS. It is also suited to headphones on a solitary night or a long drive. We would also love to see this performed beachside under a full moon at Scorpios in Mykonos or a festival like Tomorrowland or Medicine.

We also appreciate the ethos behind Bodo Bifroest as a completely independent, genre-fluid artist who handles everything from composition and lyrics through to production, mixing, mastering and artwork. His background as an MSc and industrial engineer brings an interesting sense of precision to the emotive project.

The production keeps us enthralled throughout. It’s a high-octane, dimensional adventure full of cultural references and we learn that the beat was modelled around the Theme from S.W.A.T.. We love this approach because the result feels fully reimagined instead of derivative. Zack‘s production is refined and provides the perfect backdrop for DAPS‘ incisive storytelling laced with poetic prowess.

As for the track’s message, Down Wit Dat (Cold Killa) feels like an unfiltered snapshot of the environment that shaped him. He allows the bars to speak for themselves in a gritty, cinematic and deeply rooted place. When asked who influenced the track, DAPS simply responds, “Nobody really influenced me on this track it’s original.” That independence really comes through and feels like an artist who is trusting his own voice, though fans of Schoolly D would also be able to vibe with this. We could imagine the track scoring a sync placement in a TV show like Beauty in Black, or the Oscar-winning film, One Battle After Another.

Needless to say, we love what DAPS is creating, and it is no surprise that the track has already picked up attention from blogs in Brazil and London. We previously featured Martin Lloyd Howard in May as he fused flamenco and Elizabethan influences on the cinematic composition, Hidden Andalucia, so when we heard that Martin was back with Highland Mist, we couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in his universe once more.

Highland Mist opens with intimacy and syncopated notions, as we experience Martin’s intricate finger work. The composition taps into raw and organic folk notions with microtonal DADGAD tuning as Martin takes us on a journey through the rugged landscapes of the Scottish Highlands. The altered DADGAD tuning creates a mystical Celtic quality that feels ancient and cinematic.

He creates a vivid cosmic universe that allows us to build our own narrative around the music. As Martin explains, “I was experimenting with DADGAD tuning for another project and came across an opening fingerstyle chord sequence which seemed to evoke a mood of quiet mystery and rugged landscapes. I took it from there.”

The result is a deeply atmospheric piece where every detail feels super intentional. We love the way that the DADGAD tuning is used melodically. It gives the guitar an almost vocal essence. There is a tangible sense of solitude and wonderment at play and we could easily imagine Highland Mist accompanying a sweeping cinematic landscape sequence in a film or television series set against the Scottish wilderness.

Speaking on the deeper intention behind the release, Martin shares, “It’s all about evoking a soundscape that takes the listener to the mist and mystique of the Scottish Highlands.” That philosophy really comes to life through the composition. There is no need for vocals or elaborate production because the guitar itself becomes the storyteller, painting an expansive picture through tone, phrasing and dynamics.

We also appreciate the refreshingly old-school recording process. Recorded in Martin’s home loft with a single Rode NT4 microphone positioned around nine inches from the join between the neck and body of the guitar, Highland Mist feels remarkably organic.
