We previously featured Elias Dream for exploring sudden loss, cherished memories and the devastating finality of goodbye with emotional Goodbye, My Love, so when we heard that the visionary artist was back with The Love I Hide, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.

The Love I Hide opens with a delicate piano performance, intertwined with an emotive acoustic guitar and textured percussion as we experience the lyrics, “I wake up and reach for the phone, hoping for a sign, maybe just a tone, she’s sleeping beside me, so close, so still, but what I really feel only hearts like mine ever will, sometimes she whispers softly, do you love only me, and I say yeah it’s true but the truth is you…”

The opus expands into a tale of loving two women as Elias Dream shares the lyrics, “Still I’m caught in between, two worlds pulling, tearing at the seams, I’m holding her hand but I’m dreaming of you… while all of the truth stays hidden from view…”

We are immediately drawn into the emotional intensity of the song composition It poignantly explores the uncomfortable space between commitment and desire. We particularly appreciate how the lyrics place us inside the protagonist’s private world.

The subject also opens up a wider conversation about male sexuality, attraction and monogamy. Some people experience attraction to more than one person, and cultural expectations often encourage men to conceal these feelings. In that sense it feels very zeitgeist and relatable, but most of all, progressive.

What we love is that Elias Dream doesn’t simply turn this into a trite tale of forbidden romance, or make either woman the villain. Instead, he explores the psychological weight of keeping the truth hidden. It’s intelligent songwriting. We can imagine the track landing in a film such as Closer, Blue Valentine, The Bridges of Madison County, Eyes Wide Shut, Revolutionary Road and In the Mood for Love. It could also lock in a sync placement in Normal People, The Affair, Scenes from a Marriage, Tell Me Lies and The White Lotus.

Elias Dream is a storytelling-oriented independent artist from Germany whose musical universe brings together rap, melodic vocals, rock and cinematic production. We love the dramatic energy as IRONA summons Jack for a walk followed by a highly intricate piano performance and cello accompaniment. There is no doubt that the track holds a cinematic allure, and what resonates with us most is the emotional honesty. This is not a conventional breakup song and we deeply connect with the idea that sometimes the person we love does not have to become a villain for us to recognise that waiting has run its course. Choosing our own horizon is not necessarily an act of rejection; sometimes, it is an act of self-respect.

IRONA tells us, “Jack is not about love disappearing. It is about accepting that love can remain even when waiting must end.” There is no doubt that fans of Lana Del Rey, Agnes Obel, AURORA, London Grammar, and Ólafur Arnalds would absolutely be able to connect with IRONA’s universe.

Establishing the mood with a rising, meditative frequency and a minimalist piano melody, expanding with guitar arpeggio riffs and binaural beats, Social Treble (the brainchild of The Analog Ghost) opens Dead Reckoning… The Last Known Location with a track called Skyline Motherboard… The Burden of Being Known with a high spiritual quotient.

The composition evolves into a dimensional and futuristic tapestry of sound. It is cohesive and feels healing. Perfect for the start of a vinyasa yoga class. We appreciate the intricacies, the cerebral notions and the cosmic depth that manifests. The build of the composition with a brooding bass guitar adds warmth and depth. A forward momentum and pace shift towards the finale feels akin to an ascension particularly with the key changes. Social Treble has penned this intro as “The Diagnosis”.

This leads us to Void In Time (described as “The Undertow”)which opens with metallic percussion elements, syncopated and subversive before a drone of tanpura guides us forward. This feels psychedelic and like the soundtrack for a trippy show like Nine Perfect Strangers. The composition builds with soft drums and a high octane guitar with celestial nuances and more cerebral spacey motifs. We experience a climax mid-way through the track before most of the instrumentation pulls out to leave us with a meditative moment to invite introspection before the main body of the composing rebuilds. Again we appreciate the ongoing ebbs and flows, teasing us before the drums roll at a higher BPM leading us towards a finale and eventual siren-esque breakdown.

For some context, we learn that Dead Reckoning… The Last Known Location is the debut album from Social Treble and is set in Bangalore in 2031. No AI has been used to create the opus and every detail is clearly infused with raw authenticity. We already appreciate the ambitious nature of the audio-visual project.

Next up is The Brass Hour which opens with a brooding grunge-adjacency with an alternative rock feel. The drums set the pulse of the track whilst astral bell tones evoke a more haunting energy. This has a 90s feel almost like a scene one might experience in Night Rider or Melrose Place. This segment with the narrative is “The Refuge”.

Faces of Reality opens with cosmic bells and a healing frequency before expanding with a ferocious guitar performance showcasing dynamism and cinematic intrigue. It’s a high octane adventure, described by Social Treble as “The Unmasking”. Next is Anxiety Protocol (or “The Vigilance”), which expresses itself with a more cerebral and syncopated edge. Panning guitars add dimensionality whilst astral bells give us a surround sound experience.

This track is really where the narrative of the album starts to set in. Dead Reckoning… The Last Known Location follows AS-1133, a software architect in Bangalore, who is trapped in a world that measures everything about him but fails to recognise his suffering. When his cry for help becomes just another ticket number, he begins a journey towards escape and self-discovery. The album intends to explore notions of surveillance, isolation, and the freedom of reclaiming one’s humanity.

After the subversion, we experience Flagged For Review with serves as a meditative respite. We appreciate the healing frequencies and cosmic detailing. Guitar notes emerge as do rippling piano moments. Social Treble calls this “The Rupture”. Epic guitar work follows, shimmering but retaining the peaceful allure with a psychedelic climax.

Reading Against the Grain (or “The Momentum”) is a driving guitar-rock experience with metal-adjacency. Orchestral drama erupts and string chops add drama. The Last Reading opens with classic piano and textured drums before expanding into a bold and fierce universe. Social Treble dubs this “The Stillness”, which might feel ironic, but there is certainly a grounding and almost hypnotic energy that manifests.

This brings us to Crowded Silence (“The Exit”), which opens with peaceful guitar and textured drums that pick up pace, intertwined with another cosmic guitar performance. Fans of Carlos Santana would absolutely be in awe of the skillset displayed here. Next is All Lights In Bangalore Couldn’t Find me which also serves as the longest track on the album. Cerebral percussion, metallic bold textures, binaural audio motifs that appear to expand neuroplasticity, and then building with drama. It’s brilliant, engaging and magnetic. Within the narrative, this is called “The Vanishing” and exudes notions of hedonism and escapism. We can feel the freedom in the story and its sonic expression.

Aftermath showcases a Spanish guitar introduction with microtonal notes, evolving with a fierce electric guitar. As we write this, it is important to share that we are listening at a mid-volume with headphones to maximise the sonic experience.

On the process and intention, Social Treble shares, “Every instrument was placed by hand at a fixed distance and angle from the listener’s head, the way you would arrange furniture in a dark room you plan to cross with your eyes closed. Nothing circles the listener. The room holds still so that the story can move through it. Headphones deliver one channel to each ear. Speakers send both channels to both ears, which softens the positions and folds the intended room inward. The notes remain, but the spatial argument changes. This is why the headphone instruction appears before the story on the album page.”

Naturally, we are in awe and appreciate the deep resonance that Social Treble creates with. The artist also thanks Fareed Eljahli and Morayo Oshodi, two people he had trained, for their dedication, hard work and quiet example, which inspired him to give the album the time, attention and care it deserved.

The final track on the record is Sovereign Hope (“The Sovereignty”) which opens with bold and textured drums and a dimensional guitar performance. Spiritual sovereignty is the freedom to belong to yourself, to find peace beyond external control or validation, and to live in alignment with your deepest truth. This certainly manifests as the culmination of the record and we connect with the brighter themes of this composition which feels like freedom and euphoria. All in all, the record is a journey from dystopia to utopia. A genre-expansive and compelling trip through surveillance, alienation and spiritual sovereignty, created with the intention to help us rediscover freedom, identity and hope. For that, we are grateful.

We recently featured the visionary Gianfranco Malorgio for exploring Italian emigration, displacement and the search for a new life through cinematic guitar work on An Immigrant’s Story, so when we heard that the artist was back with GREASEBALL, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.

GREASEBALL opens with a brooding and immersive synthscape with cerebral textures. It feels healing and warm, and expands with rhythmic percussion claps and a dramatic, cinematic piano performance featuring subversive mid-frequency synths. An electric guitar captivates us as the production builds, and needless to say we are in awe.

Fans of Santana would be able to connect with the guitar work and the intricacy that manifests, whilst the wider composition is more haunting. A cosmic organ emerges to tap into that dark-wave energy and we feel like we are in the opening moments of an episode of the new Carrie show on Amazon Prime, inspired by the Stephen King novel. The final moments showcase a bell toll which complements the original message of the composition.

Beneath its atmospheric production, however, GREASEBALL carries a deeply significant message. The composition forms the final instalment of Malorgio’s trilogy exploring human migration, following WOP and An Immigrant’s Story. Its title is a historical ethnic slur directed at Italian immigrants and their descendants, a word loaded with the prejudice, humiliation and hostility that many migrants have endured while attempting to build new lives in unfamiliar places.

The music itself feels like an emotional landscape shaped by uncertainty, resilience and the longing for belonging. The piano introduces a dramatic, almost film-noir sensibility, whilst the synthesizers create a sense of isolation and disorientation. Against this backdrop, Moreno Viglione‘s electric guitar performance becomes a compelling emotional voice.

We can imagine GREASEBALL accompanying a powerful sequence in films such as The Godfather Part II, Once Upon a Time in America, The Immigrant, Brooklyn, The Green Mile or The Pianist. The darker electronic dimensions could also complement television dramas like The Sopranos, The Alienist, Penny Dreadful, American Horror Story and The X-Files.

The opus expands with an industrial bass performance and celestial synths as the duo shares the lyrics, “I woke up with a fever and a pounding in my brain, a new strange condition that I couldn’t quite explain, I went to see the doctor on the other side of town, he said my feet were heavy but I couldn’t touch the ground…”

The pair continue, “The specialists were whispering in quiet recognition, everyone was gathered round to see my strange condition…”. There is no doubt that the track is super dramatic in construction and sound. In essence, it is about an illogical medical emergency and notions of healing.

We could imagine this being featured in a TV show like Nine Perfect Strangers which holds a dark-wave and psychedelic edge. It also feels poignantly haunting for this year’s spooky season which certainly explains the 10.10.10 release date on the Libra new moon.

Other cinematic parallels include The Cell, Jacob’s Ladder, Shutter Island, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Suspiria. On television, we could also imagine the track landing a sync placement in Twin Peaks, The X-Files, Severance, American Horror Story or Black Mirror.

The duo’s commitment to immersive production is central to the appeal. Jeff Burton and John D’Agostini have been making music together since they were 19, developing a creative partnership that allows them to explore unusual sonic ideas with confidence. We would particularly recommend experiencing Strange Condition through headphones, where the stereo details and layered textures can fully reveal their dimensionality.

We previously featured Neil Valmonte for delivering an anthemic reflection on life’s journey with his cinematic and healing debut single, Down on the River, so when we heard that Neil was back with The Road I Didn’t Plan On, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.

The Road I Didn’t Plan On opens with a glitched guitar slide and acoustic performance with an emotive fiddle accompaniment as Neil shares the situational lyrics, “I was 23 and restless, thought I knew just where to go, had a map inside my pocket and a pace that felt too slow, and the job I thought I wanted fell apart in just one day and the road I didn’t plan on became the one that paved the way…”

We immediately connect with Neil’s philosophical brand of songwriting and the emotional depth that manifests. As for the message of the song, it is clearly rooted in the realisation that life’s detours can lead us towards the most fulfilling and universally destined version of ourselves.

We have all experienced moments when plans fall apart, yet with hindsight, those moments can become turning points that lead us towards something more meaningful. It’s about trusting the universe and we love how Neil explores this experience without forcing a simplistic narrative of triumph, instead embracing the uncertainty.

There is a cinematic quality to the track, perfect for a movie with similar themes like Forrest Gump, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Good Will Hunting, About Time, The Pursuit of Happyness and Wild. On television, we could imagine the song in This Is Us, Ted Lasso, One Tree Hill, Parenthood or Northern Exposure.

Commenting on the release, Neil confesses, “The song speaks for itself – it’s a song about reflecting on the surprises that life gives you and the unexpected gifts that we are given. Everyone faces trials and hardships and sometimes we believe when things feel like they’re moving in the wrong direction – or at least away from our plans – that things must be bad. In reality, we don’t know whether an experience is good or bad as we don’t know what the next turn in the road brings. Ultimately, we are shaped by all of our experiences and sometimes the road you don’t plan on becomes your story.”

He adds, “This release is significant because it continues the introspective examination of one person’s life. If Down oy the River is a song of resilience, The Road I Didn’t Plan On could be a song of surprised acceptance and appreciation of what it took to create the person the singer is today.”

Based in Westport, Connecticut, Neil is a solo songwriter, musician and producer who creates his music independently from his basement studio. Whilst his creative process incorporates AI-assisted production, the heart of the project remains rooted in his own experiences.

Carrie White’s story may be far from over. Mike Flanagan’s reimagining of Stephen King’s Carrie takes the familiar tale of a bullied teenager with terrifying telekinetic powers and expands it into something much bigger. And after that explosive season finale, the question is no longer simply whether Carrie can survive, but what she might become.

The eight-episode Prime Video series concludes with Carrie unleashing devastating destruction after the infamous prom-night humiliation. However, unlike the most familiar versions of the story, this adaptation leaves the door open for a future beyond the massacre. Carrie survives and is rescued by Emaline, who introduces her to a hidden community of women with extraordinary abilities.

That revelation changes everything. Carrie is no longer simply an isolated teenager whose powers spiral out of control. She is part of a much larger world, one that could provide the foundation for another season.

What could happen in season 2?

The finale suggests that a potential second season could explore Carrie learning to control her abilities, discovering more about the mysterious network of psychically gifted women and deciding whether she wants revenge, freedom or something far more ambitious.

The final declaration, “It’s my world…”, is particularly intriguing. It sounds less like the frightened girl we first met and more like someone beginning to imagine a future on her own terms.

Could Carrie become a pop star, a supermodel or even the President? These possibilities might sound outrageous for a horror series, but they offer fascinating ways to explore what happens when someone with extraordinary powers gains influence in the real world.

A celebrity storyline could examine how Carrie transforms public attention into power. The fashion world could become a stage on which she controls her image rather than allowing others to define her. Politics, meanwhile, could take the story into darker territory, asking whether someone capable of bending the world to her will should ever be trusted with authority.

Has season 2 been confirmed?

For now, viewers should separate possibilities from confirmed plans. The finale clearly establishes room for more storytelling, but that does not automatically mean a second season has been officially commissioned. Any producer comments teasing Carrie’s future need to be understood in their exact context rather than treated as confirmation of a particular storyline.

One thing is certain: “It’s my world” is an ending that invites speculation. Carrie’s future could be about learning to live with her powers, or discovering just how much she can change the world around her.

If the series returns, the most compelling question may not be what Carrie can become, but what happens when the world finally belongs to her.

We have been intently following the release of Mark Cee‘s album, It’s Me Mark Cee, starting with his reflection on grief and resilience with poignant folk single How You Left Me Still, and his exploration of grief, memory and human connection with Missed Connection, so when we heard that the album had been released in full, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.

The record opens with an intimate guitar soundscape and a track called Wistful where Mark Cee shares his instrumental skill and sets the tone for the record. We appreciate the layers and could imagine this being featured in a TV show like Adults. There’s a peaceful allure, and he reminds us of early Elliott Smith. There is a subtle psychedelic adjacency, but we will get into that in more detail soon.

Next up is How You Left Me Still, which is raw, atmospheric folk exploring grief, loss, resilience, and the emotional challenges of moving forwards after losing his father-in-law and its impact on his mother-in-law, prompting reflections on his own relationship with his father. We mentioned in our previous review that it evokes the spirit of artists such as Bob Dylan, Elliott Smith, and Bon Iver, creating a cinematic and timeless sound.

This brings us to To Where Will You Go which opens with a spiritual flute intro, expanding with strummed acoustic guitar and brooding vocals. The song feels like a scene from a Jack Kerouac book. We love the syncopated expression and the existential nature of Mark’s poetic prowess. This also serves as the longest track on the album with deep instrumental segues as Mark shares his philosophical mindset with us.

Waiting on Winter Still is next and continues the sonic, cohesive themes of the record. We deeply vibe with the raw Americana-folk that manifests and the human and natural way in which Mark creates. This is a cinematic and instrumental track which serves as an important prequel to Missed Connection.

As we previously detailed, Missed Connection is an intimate exploration of the emotional weight of lost connections, longing, and the people or relationships that remain with us long after they have passed. We love the cosmic flute detailing and the dimensionality that manifests with Mark’s composition and almost breaking voice. Again, this could be a great fit for a film like the Oscar-winning, One Battle After Another as it really parallels some of the story lines. The track is followed by a sonic reprise of the track, called Missed Connection Reprise that echoes the melodies of the track but with an almost zen-like atmospheric harmonies like a ghost reminiscing.

I Will Touch the Sky opens with a higher octane acoustic energy and trippy vocalizations of the title of the track, bringing us into a more psychedelic energy. There is an optimistic energy that manifests here, which feels like important progress within the narrative of the album from a mental health perspective. We love the message and could imagine this in Disney’s Up. It is healing and cathartic.

This brings us to Stranger Home which opens with instrumental clarity, again, another important evolution for the album, showing us that the clouds have cleared. It’s intelligent and reminds us of The Beatles and Bobby Dylan. There is something hypnotic about the track and thematically it serves as a solid reflection on life itself.

Finally, we experience Heading Back to Canada, which feels very personal but delivered with precision and a glistening energy like an ascension moment for the finale of the album. It is narrative driven as Mark reflects on his lived experience. We connect with the journey and feel like this may be a prelude for what Mark delivers next from his sonic universe.
