We previously featured Aldís Fjóla and Halldór Sveinsson for their profound and emotive single, Quiet the Storm, so when we learned that the visionary artists were back with Breathe, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in their universe once again.
“When the world is overwhelmed, when the tears will dry out, when you just feel like falling, I will follow you down…” sings Aldís Fjóla with a high emotional quotient as she shares prose that feels highly in touch with the zeitgeist. Accompanied by a delicate piano performance, her words resonate at a time when humanity is at its most susceptible. We appreciate the supportive energy that manifests from Aldís Fjóla, and the authenticity that transmutes.
The opus expands with an orchestral violin performance from Halldór Sveinsson, as the artists invite us to connect with ourselves and source energy within, and breathe, at a time when we need it the most. There is a strong spiritual depth that comes to life with the track, and the message is important and conscious.
We are enamoured by the strings and piano arrangements, how they intertwine, build with drama as Aldís Fjóla sings, “There will be a tomorrow, if you breathe… just breathe, just breathe, lay your body on me, and breathe…”

Speaking on the release, the creators say, “It’s about letting your people help you through, remember to breathe in our everyday struggles and remember that you have people in your corner.”
Aldís Fjóla and Halldór Sveinsson first met in 2013 when Halldór joined Aldís’s band. They quickly realised it was the start of a strong musical friendship. Coming from different musical backgrounds, they began writing together and, over the years, grew to understand each other deeply as artists.
Their creative processes have remained closely connected. This year they are collaborating on a new album, with Halldór composing the music and Aldís writing the lyrics. Their inspiration comes from many places, including musicians like Louis Cole, TV shows such as Severance and Shrinking, and moments from everyday life.
Needless to say, we continue to be in awe, and have added Breathe to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discographies of Aldís Fjóla and Halldór Sveinsson, and anticipate their album!
