We are immediately enthralled by the subversion and cerebral energy of the track. There is no doubt that m0n0 jay was intent on creating something highly unique and memorable during the creative process for L.L.L. (Lift, Lift, Lick It).
The opus expands with layered vocals and lyrics about the flow of energy within our bodies, and conscious prose about connecting with our bodies. We connect with the dance and gym-floor-friendly piano and progressive house beat that emerges, but are most hypnotized by the high spiritual quotient of the song.
Fans of early M.I.A. and Madonna‘s more eccentric eras (MDNA) will be able to vibe with L.L.L. (Lift, Lift, Lick It). The overarching sentiment manifests as inspiring and empowering as m0n0 jay shares her empowering candy-coloured universe with us.
The build of the track is sublime with textured EDM-adjacency before an anthemic final chorus. We can imagine L.L.L. (Lift, Lift, Lick It) locking in a multitude of sync placements, notably the upcoming TV show ELLE – the prequel to Legally Blonde, or perhaps a more creative scene in a gym in a sequel to The Substance!
We learn m0n0 jay is also a Stockholm-based powerlifter, and designed the track to “reimagine gym culture as a neon-soaked pop-art universe.” The track serves as a single from her upcoming conceptual debut EP, Secret Selfies.
She confesses, “It is a Trojan Horse, using the dopamine hit of a 128 BPM club banger to celebrate body positivity and the sheer joy of movement without pressure. No before-and-after narratives.
