Establishing the mood with a cerebral topper and meditative synthscape with panning textures, Bhati opens Come With Me with intrigue and dimensionality. The opus expands with a melodic synth crescendo, resulting in a leftfield and somewhat subversive EDM energy.
We appreciate the uniqueness of the composition and the spiritual and psychedelic adjacency. The design is intricate and evolves with a house vocalization of the title of the track which serves as an invitation “into the sea”.
The energy also hints at being an initiation into another realm. This feels universal as much as it does literal. The sonic switch-up for the finale into an orchestral vibe is welcome and creates a classical sentiment, which feels encompassing juxtaposed with the more electronic original energy. Bhati tells us, “[I] wanted to use strings and orchestral bits to give that grand energetic open vibe but still keep it tight and uptempo in rhythm, hence mixing genres of house beats with thick lush strings but sidechained to make the rhythm breathe.”
Bhati cites Bonobo, Caribou, Solar Fields, and Lindstrom as sonic influences, which we can feel manifest on Come With Me, although there is no doubt that Bhati is designing a sonic universe of his own.
We learn that the recording took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, which is fast becoming a hub for progressive electronic music. The track comes with a music video, featuring a cute animated robot embarking on a journey from mountains to underwater exploration… ergo “into the sea”.
On the political climate in Dubai, Bhati ponders, “War in Iran breaks out and they start attacking my home city of Dubai. Confusion about where to go, what to do, should we uproot and run away or stay put?”
We are grateful that Bhati is choosing high vibrational music as a form of escapism as this time, and have added Come With Me to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY and TIMELESS playlists, whilst we continue to stream Bhati‘s recent release, Narcissism in E Minor.
