Setting the tone with a cerebral and psychedelic guitar soundscape, David Goundry opens Lucy with the situational prose, “There’s a girl on my mind, all the time, she’s so fine, I got Lucy on my mind…”. Immediately we are enthralled by the soundscape that manifests, and the raw authenticity of David’s prose.
The luscious choral harmonies from Joanna Griggs are sublime and overall, the track comes to life as a cohesive and dimensional tapestry of sound. Astral guitar licks, relatable concepts, and a tangible charm create notions of timelessness.
There is no doubt that fans of David Bowie would be able to connect with what David Goundry is creating. We could imagine the track locking in a multitude of sync placements, especially if the muse of the film or TV is named Lucy. This would have been perfect for the science fiction action film written and directed by Luc Besson of the same name!

Speaking on the cosmic release, David Goundry confesses, “The aim was to create a warm retro analog sound that also has a modern edge.” With reference to his sonic influences, he cites The Beatles, The Small Faces, and ELO, which we can feel come through with the design of the track, although there is no doubt that David Goundry is creating a universe of his own.
The track comes with a hypnotising and cinematic music video, which sees David Goundry performing the track with a cosmic projection. It is simple yet wholly captivating. We learn that the track was created with veteran producer Nick Sykes, known for his work with acclaimed acts such as Average White Band and Go West.
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Lucy to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream David Goundry‘s wider discography, including Coming Right at You, and Fire and Water.
