Establishing the mood with rhythmic cymbal textures and a fierce and assertive alternative rock soundscape with textured drums and an astral guitar frequency, gaggle. open Lost at Sea with notions of timeless subversion.
The track expands with vocalizations reminiscent of iconic 90s bands like Pixies, and needless to say, we are in awe. We appreciate the masterful instrumental performances and the high emotional quotient that comes to life with the track and the prose.
In essence, Lost at Sea is designed to serve as “a sage and candid approach to heartbreak”. The message feels relatable and you can tell that there is raw authenticity and lived experience behind the songwriting that really transmutes. The band confesses, “Lost at Sea is a powerful rock ballad about loss and love, and the grief you feel over a breakup.”
This level of intentionality comes through in the performance too. The ebbs and flows are really cinematic, and there is no doubt that Lost at Sea would be perfect for a multitude of sync placements, notably a coming-of-age movie with a romantic arc that reflects the prose. Blue Valentine, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and 500 Days of Summer, where love, loss and personal reckoning unfold with striking honesty would all be a perfect fit.

We love the delicate moments juxtaposed with the visceral. It’s really quite genius, and the guitar solo is transcendental. We learn that the track is a solid reflection of gaggle.’s hotly-anticipated upcoming album A Glass Half Drunk.
Fans of Arctic Monkeys and Pulp would also be able to vibe with what gaggle. are creating, but there is no doubt that the Sheffield-based band is manifesting a sound unto their own. It is no surprise that in just a year, the five members of gaggle., along with their goose mascot Bernie, have become a familiar presence on the Sheffield live music circuit. They have played grassroots venues across the city and beyond, winning over audiences with their unique topics and raw sensibilities.
We have added Lost at Sea to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of gaggle., including Stella Eater, tapping into the band’s penchant for beer and social scrutiny!
