Establishing the mood with cerebral exhalations and a dimensional bass synth, Gravité Fresq open Reality Is Premium with drama, intrigue and a fierce, boundless soundscape. The opus expands with a poignant and thought-provoking delivery of the lyrics, “Put a label on my face, put a checkbox on my breath, tick the box that says authentic, while the system edits death…”
Immediately we are obsessed with the concept of the track, and the intelligent constructs that manifest. There is no doubt that Reality Is Premium would be perfect for a range of sync placements, notably a Matrix sequel, a film like Lucy or Limitless or even a scene from Blade.
The fusion of techno and darkwave is genius, and the switch-up into an almost alternative rock meets EDM vibe keeps us enthralled. Overall, the track is genre expansive, and we appreciate the subversive, thought-out hooks, the poetic prowess, and the overarching message that Gravité Fresq are sharing. Following a trippy spoken word bridge, we experience an epic instrumental solo, allowing for deeper introspection of the message that we have received.
Speaking on the song inspired by the “age of synthetic media”, Gravité Fresq confess “The track explores the existential dread of a world where ‘real’ is becoming a scarce commodity…”. They add, “We are drowning in AI-generated noise. We used to label the artificial; soon we will have to tag the human. Reality Is Premium is about the moment authenticity becomes a luxury good you have to subscribe to.”

Fans of Pet Shop Boys, LCD Soundsystem, The Human League, and New Order would be able to connect with what Gravité Fresq are creating, but there is no doubt that that they are designing a sonic universe unto their own.
Gravité Fresq‘s clever moniker comes from fusing “gravité” (weight) with “fresque” (mural) to transform “private anxiety into something monumental: institutional dread, existential fatigue, and everyday absurdity frozen into sharp, rhythmic scenes.”
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Reality Is Premium to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream the project’s previous single about workplace unease, Schrödinger’s Office and anticipate future releases from Gravité Fresq!
