Drawing us in with a textured riser and astral synthscape, KOWIKAN opens Sailing Together with dimensionality and a high emotional quotient before sharing a pristine pop vocal with the lyrics, “We are travelling together, on the endless ocean, lost in the rhythm, lost in the motion, whatever the weather, I’m holding your hand, searching for life, far from the land…”
Immediately, we are drawn in by the cosmic depth and the notions of escapism. The prose is delivered with poetic prowess and timelessness, with a relatable theme at a time when we need it the most. Human connection feels so important, and KOWIKAN brings this to life seamlessly.
There is a cinematic energy that manifests with the track, and there is no doubt that Sailing Together would be perfect for a multitude of sync placements, notably a sequel or reboot of The Truman Show or an episode of Love Is Blind.
The pop-EDM vibe that comes to life with Sailing Together is dynamic and emotive. Lyrics like, “Our bond is a flame that will burn forever… two souls on the edge, standing on the brink…” are absolutely captivating, whilst the synth solo allows for introspection and to truly connect with the sentiment of escapism that KOWIKAN evokes with his message.
For the narrative KOWIKAN tells us, “The story behind Sailing Together is a tribute to my marriage. It represents the philosophy that no matter how rough the sea of life gets, as long as you have the right partner, you can survive any storm. It was written as a personal gift to my wife, to celebrate our unity.”

We appreciate the metaphors in the prose, and the length of the track. At a time when many pop songs come in at two to three minutes, we welcome an opus that extends to almost six minutes. This again shows the raw authenticity and passion that KOWIKAN creates with, and even allows for another celestial instrumental solo and extended finale!
The artist confesses, “Musically, I was heavily inspired by the legendary Avicii and his unique way of blending melodic folk-pop elements with energetic house music. This influence [was] combined with a vocal style reminiscent of John Martin. It’s a tribute to that golden era of melodic electronic pop.”
Needless to say, we are in awe and have added Sailing Together to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of KOWIKAN, including Compass In The Dark, and Bitter Sea, and anticipate the release of his upcoming EP.
