Drawing us in with an intricate guitar riff, expanding with luscious strums and astral frequencies, Rich Allen opens The Last Keepsake (Keep My Name) with introspective depth as he sings, “You kept my name, I wasn’t sure why, was it a way to hold on whilst saying goodbye? An afterthought slipping through the cracks…a keepsake a reminder of a love that didn’t last…”
We immediately connect with the relatability and authenticity of the message. We understand clearly Rich Allen‘s perspective. The luscious additional female harmonies add value to the song. There is a timelessness that manifests, and there is no doubt that the track would be perfect for a multitude of sync placements, perhaps a sequel to the iconic Catherine Zeta-Jones and George Clooney film, Intolerable Cruelty.
Rich Allen shares his lived experience with poetic prowess and a high emotional quotient. The lyrics, “You traded love for money…” really cut deep and are quite representative of society today on many levels.
Rich confesses, “This song is an ode to the sacred fire of memory – holding onto moments, scars, and love that leave an indelible mark on our souls. These memories are stars that refuse to burn out, illuminating even the darkest nights.”
