We previously featured DJ Druskin when he tapped into notions of resilience and a conscious awakening on With the Dawn, so when we heard that the artist was back with Sittin in the Garden, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Drawing us in with an intricate acoustic guitar performance with subtle percussion textures, DJ Druskin opens Sittin in the Garden with emotive depth and a cinematic allure with the lyrics, “Coffee stain from a ceramic mug, morning frost pulled back like a rug…”
We immediately connect with the poetic prowess and the wider concept of renewal and rebirth – which also feels highly zeitgeist, as it is something we all need as a collective. The electric guitar solo is sublime and adds dimensionality to the piece. There is no doubt that Sittin in the Garden would be perfect for a Hollywood sync deal in a coming-of-age movie that reflects similar themes. The song also feels culturally needed right now, as a soft rebellion against war fatigue, climate anxiety, political polarization, erosion of trust and the burnout culture of late stage capitalism.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, DJ Druskin confesses, “I wrote this song during a forced period of stillness while recovering from surgery. From my conservatory, I spent my days watching a robin hop around the garden and noticing the first buds appearing on the plants. That simple act of watching life return – shaking off the “shadows of the winter light” – became a metaphor for my own recovery.”

Fans of Vance Joy, The Lumineers, and Mumford & Sons might be able to connect with Sittin in the Garden, but there is no doubt that what DJ Druskin is unique to his own design and perspective.
DJ Druskin is a UK-based producer whose sound is shaped by the contrast between electronic precision and organic warmth, forged in the club scenes of Harlow, Essex and Liverpool’s Mathew Street. Moving fluidly between genres, DJ Druskin creates original soundscapes that balance polished energy with deeply human storytelling.
We absolutely love what DJ Druskin is creating, and have added Sittin in the Garden to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of DJ Druskin, including Fragile Silence and Spiced Lights.
