Establishing the mood with a dimensional soundscape with astral guitars, textured drums and a cerebral rhythmic energy tapping into 90s nostalgia, Boneyard Rebels open Raincoat with subversion and situational yet metaphorical lyrics.
At first the concept of one’s birthday, imagining oneself on a boat and a commentary on the weather might seem stripped-back and grounded, but there is depth to the poetic prowess and notions of escapism that manifest.
This makes sense once we learn that Boneyard Rebels is a collective of gravediggers. We are enthralled by the energy that transmutes, reminding us of Blur, The Pixies, Placebo and Idles. We are invited, through a dance-floor friendly rock soundscape to take a trip with the band.
The glitched nuances, and trippy sound design add a psychedelic depth to the piece, which is complemented by the vocal delivery, slurring guitars and the epic key change for the middle eight. This adds dynamism and a high emotional quotient to the piece.

Speaking on the release, the band confesses, “We want to create a different kind of here. After long days of working outside we like to let go. Every Thursday night we gather to shape sounds built on instinct.”
Behind that unique vibe is a tightly knit lineup, comprised of composer Eric Dumoulin on guitar and lead vocals, Ezra Sheppard on guitar and backing vocals, Richard Germain on bass, Billy Tsekeris on synth, and Diego Antonio Lobatón on drums, with production by Steeven Choinard and mastering by Francis Ledoux.
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Raincoat to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Boneyard Rebels, including SHOOT THE BELLS, and Digging A Hole!
