Last year we featured Time is YOUR ASSET by Ulrich Jannert, which served as a transcendental anthem of self-ownership, purpose, and the fleeting nature of time, so naturally, when we heard that the artist was back to open 2026 with Two Men by the Harbor, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Two Men by the Harbor opens with immersive piano chords and a sublime saxophone performance, expanding with textured drums and a high emotional quotient. There is a cinematic energy that manifests with the song as Ulrich Jannert sings the title of the track with the words, “Two Men by the Harbor, one says ‘I want safety’, a home that shelters me, warm lights, steady living, peaceful place to be… the other hears the wild wind, calling beyond the shore, I’d rather chase horizons than wonder what life’s for…”
We immediately connect with the philosophical depth and narrative-driven song writing that manifests. The vocal timbre is captivating, and we love the emergence of the guitar to add dimensionality to the song. There is no doubt that Two Men by the Harbor would be perfect for a range of sync deals, notably a coming-of-age film with a similar narrative about choosing your story and life’s pursuits.
In essence, Two Men by the Harbor is a reflective, metaphor-driven song about a universal inner conflict. Ulrich Jannert perfectly brings to life the choice between a safe, stable life and the pull of freedom, risk, and self-discovery.

Rather than offering answers, the embraces uncertainty. It uses the harbor and the sea as symbols of time, aging, and final decisions. Eventually, it invites us to trust our inner compass and accept that every life choice carries both loss and possibility.
We love the instrumental finale and the incredible vocal riffs that Ulrich Jannert shares. He says, “I actually write all tracks for myself and listen to them regularly to create good vibes. But everyone is invited to listen too.
There is no doubt that the best songs are created this way – with authenticity and personal connection, which eventually transpire to a wider audience. Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Two Men by the Harbor to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the growing discography of Ulrich Jannert, and anticipate future releases from the visionary artist.
