Establishing the mood with a dimensional, Afrobeats energy, tapping into a vibrant frequency with male and female ad-lib vocalizations, MV and AB96 open Party with notions of optimism and a feel-good sentiment.
The opus expands with relatable prose about partying and human connection. It is sensual and playful at the same time. We appreciate the authenticity that the track exudes and the charm that the vocals are delivered with.
At a time when we need it the most, MV and AB96 are bringing to life good vibes with a tropical nuance and inviting us to truly embrace each other, but there is also a conscious thread that runs through the wider themes of the lyrics. They confess, “As the world is becoming increasingly dangerous with politics and world hunger we decided to bring a more [satirical] approach to our music.”
There is no doubt that Party is perfect for a range of DJ sets, festivals and raves in Africa and Brazil on the beach, but it is also sync friendly for a club scene in a TV show like Fatal Attraction on Netflix.

We learn that MV is a London–based artist who teamed up with AB96, who is both producer and artist. Together, they fuse their Nigerian and Ghanaian roots with a UK upbringing. They confess how their sound is influenced by Shatawale, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Asake, which we can feel come through with Party, although there is no doubt that the duo are manifesting a sound of their own.
MV and AB96 share a long history of collaboration inside and outside the studio. Their brotherhood reflects a strong cultural link between Nigeria and Ghana. They tell us how the song was recorded in AB96’sbedroom, giving it that raw and authentic, personal feel.
Anecdotally, MV was initially uninterested in the track. Everything changed when he heard AB96’s first verse. MV then delivered the second verse, and they realised the song had hit potential. The process was natural and unforced. A memorable moment is that MV was asleep until AB96 “killed” the first verse.
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Party to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of MV, and anticipate future releases and productions from AB96.
