Establishing the mood with an intimate and cinematic guitar soundscape, something that we have come to love and expect from The Boy Blue, Ruin Your Bliss opens with the thought-provoking and relatable lyrics, “Spending your time, like any other day, there’s nothing that makes you think that this will be the day, that the world you know comes crashing down, that your world will crumble at someone else’s hand…”
The opus expands with textured drums and a high emotional quotient, to take us on a journey that feels all too familiar. We often go into each day thinking that we are safe and well, but through the actions of someone else, our bliss is ruined.
There is no doubt that Ruin Your Bliss is perfect for a multitude of sync placements, notably a movie or TV shows with similar themes to the track. We can imagine it in a montage scene during the aftermath of an incident.
As always, The Boy Blue‘s energy and delivery are incredible – full of raw authenticity and charisma. The guitar performances are equally emotive and we deeply connect with the poetic prowess that manifests with the song as The Boy Blue‘s emotion expands. The finale is stripped-back as The Boy Blue confesses that it is safety that he misses.

Speaking on the release, the British artist says, “This was a track written in light of recent and past attacks on innocent members of society, who found themselves or were affected by acts of terror. Numerous stories of courage in the face of adversity and danger prompted me to write this song. I tried to portray the fear that these attacks have on society as a whole. Although we shouldn’t try to show that fear by changing the things we do.”
Needless to say, we are always in awe of what The Boy Blue creates and have added Ruin Your Bliss to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of The Boy Blue, and anticipate future releases!
