Establishing the mood with a emotive piano, textured 80s adjacent drums and an a cinematic energy, WALKING ILLUSION opens Crazy with the situational lyrics, “We came here to break up, now all we wanna do is make up, because the space between us is gone…”
The opus expands with choral vocals and a high emotional quotient as we are taken on a connected and relatable journey. There is no doubt that Crazy would be perfect for a multitude of sync deals – notably a movie or TV show with similar themes to the lyrics – perhaps My Life With the Walter Boys, or even an episode of Euphoria on HBO.
Speaking on the release, WALKING ILLUSION confesses, “This song speaks about those moments when you follow what you feel, even when it makes no sense. That magnetic pull… the kind you can’t resist. A soft, intimate, emotional drift – where the glow grows, the breath shakes, and something real begins.”
We appreciate the cohesive tapestry of sound that manifests with the track – the creators demonstrate instrumental mastery and lyrical authenticity that feels like something that many of us can connect with.
Fans of early Madonna will absolutely be able to vibe with Crazy, and vocalist Audrey Bouchard really taps into the energy that the iconic singer once shared with her song Crazy for You for the film Vision Quest in 1985.
We learn that WALKING ILLUSION is the Montreal-based musical project led by songwriter and sound engineer Alain Boivin. Crazy itself is carried by the soulful voice of Audrey Bouchard, with supporting vocals by Alain Boivin himself.
Formerly known as ISA920, the project first gained recognition with the track Walking Illusion, which spent several weeks in the Top 100 ADISQ Anglo, and more recently composed the original soundtrack for the documentary Rendez-vous à Srebrenica.
Crazy marks the first release from an upcoming four-song mini-album. Whilst we await its release, we have added Crazy to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, as we immerse ourselves in lyric video and stream the project’s debut single, Long Gone Man.
