In essence, Oh Heavy Rain explores the concept of ruins that are left after a deep emotional bond breaks. The song is about someone struggling after the end of an intense relationship. They are left alone with memories that still feel present.
Recording artist Nik Nova, the creative force behind The Ghostly Pulse, expresses how he feels mentally overwhelmed and emotionally unstable. His thoughts keep circling back to the same pain, and he appears unsure if he is getting worse or slowly recovering.
The notion of the “broken voice” refers to his muse, and his memory of them. Hearing or thinking about that person still has power in his universe, it might hurt, but it also feels like the only thing that could help them heal. Nik confesses, “Oh Heavy Rain explores identity fragmentation and social contradiction through restraint, repetition and atmosphere.”
