We recently featured Scott’s Tees as he took us on a dream-inspired trip with the introspective single, We Move as Fast as Storms Allow, so naturally, we were curious to experience his latest release, Cope, and couldn’t wait to share it with you.
The track draws us in with a luscious and dimensional guitar soundscape as Scott’s Tees shares atmospheric vocals with situational and metaphorical lyrics. We are in awe of the soft-grunge meets indie-rock energy that manifests and the sublime layered vocals.
There is definitely a cinematic vibe with Cope, perfect for a Luca Guadagnino or Sofia Coppola movie, and Scott’s Tees really reminds us of early Smashing Pumpkins. Speaking on the meaning of the song, the artist confesses that it is about “how the lack of sunlight in the winter can contribute to a low mood; how the wintertime lets us slow down and reflect on our lives.”
What makes Cope compelling is Scott’s Tees’ ability to translate his personal reflections into something that is universally resonant. It’s in these small and unguarded moments that the song that invite us to find power and peace. It offers a sense of solidarity to those of us navigating seasonal heaviness and internal shifts.

The mysterious artist also channels Bon Iver and Iron and Wine into his sound. He says, “Bon Iver’s style was an influence for song structure and guitar, as was Iron and Wine for harmonies, as well as Smashing Pumpkins for the guitar tone and shoegaze vibe.” We appreciate the poetic prowess of the track and how Scott’s Tees digs into the relatable yet subtle psychological shifts brought on by the lack of sunlight.
Musically, Cope is a masterclass in atmospheric guitar production. The track was recorded entirely in his bedroom, and marries analogue warmth with contemporary clarity, giving it a textured yet intimate energy. The use of an old multitrack recorder which was later polished up on a computer, adds a nostalgic flair which is reminiscent of early indie-folk home recordings.
We appreciate the journey that Scott’s Tees takes us on and the warmth that manifests with the track on a freezing cold evening in London! We have added Cope to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream We Move as Fast as Storms Allow, and anticipate future releases from the elusive rising artist.
