Establishing the mood with a meditative synth-bell soundscape filled with melodic warmth and charm, MavAngelo opens FadingSkies with cinematic allure and poetic prowess as he shares descriptive, metaphorical prose.
We appreciate the dreamy and sentimental journey that MavAngelo is taking us on, and his peaceful charisma. There is no doubt that FadingSkies would be perfect for a range of sync deals – perhaps an episode of Euphoria on HBO, or a future Sofia Coppola film. Fans of Sufjan Stevens wiould be able to connect with what MavAngelo is creating.
The guitar solo is transcendental, and we love the layered vocal harmonies which add dimensionality to the track. As for its themes, the tender and melancholic opus is designed to capture the sadness of growing older.
It reflects on childhood holidays with longing and warmth. There is no doubt that MavAngelo turns simple memories into deep emotion, as the song feels fragile yet full of heart. We learn that warm Korean and Japanese influences shape the mood, whilst the guitars echo Mayer and Hendrix and the vocals carry Joji’s quiet honesty.

The production journey was intimate and personal, and everything was made in a small bedroom studio. MavAngelo handled every part of the creative process himself, which only adds to the authenticity of the piece. He confesses, “The song writing was actually done while I was trail walking and saw a hanging cliff just before sunset. I sat on that cliff for a while and remembered that melancholic feeling. I used to see that same sunset when I was playing on swing 20 years ago and now still the same sunset but different place, over a cliff as the same sky fades into the dark.”
Naturally, we are in awe, and have added FadingSkies to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of MavAngelo, and anticipate future solo releases and collaborations from the talented rising artist!
