We just featured William Locks as he shared his truth with his emotional, cathartic and epic debut single, If I Could Say, so naturally, we couldn’t wait to experience his sophomore release, Better Off Alone, and share our thoughts and feelings!
Drawing us in with a super intricate guitar performance, William Locks sings, “Lately I’ve been keeping quiet, hiding all the noise inside, cos every time I trust a feeling it proves me wrong in time…”
The opus expands with raw authenticity as the star shares his experience of being someone who has been hurt many times and no longer trusts their own emotions. William keeps his feelings inside, because every attempt at love has ended in disappointment. The tangible pain has resulted in him being cautious and exhausted.
William decides that being alone feels like a safer bet than risking heartbreak again. Love has brought him both strength and destruction, and the fear of repeating this cycle feels overwhelming to him. Choosing solitude for William seems easier than facing another emotional collapse.

Still, there’s a quiet hope beneath these notions of fear. Better Off Alone hints that someday the hurt might fade and trust might return for William, but for now, he is protecting himself, and today is truly not the day to fall in love again.
We appreciate the relatable message, again perfect for a multitude of sync deals – perhaps a film where the star asserts their boundaries in the same way that William has. It would be perfect for the sequel of Purple Hearts.
Speaking on the track he philosophically says “Sometimes it’s just easier not to fall in love. Because that way you know for sure, that it will not hurt in the future. After we’ve created a demo and let some friends listen to it, the conclusion was: Let’s release this one too.”
We are glad that William Locks decided to release the song, and have added his sophomore single to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream If I Could Say, and anticipate future releases from the star!
