We recently featured Sean MacLeod for his unique brand of kaleidoscopic rock and high concept message with his single, Cool Charisma, so naturally, we wanted to dig further into his discography, and upon doing so, we discovered Beautiful Star, which is the eighth track on his album, New Start!
Beautiful Star opens with a luscious and intriguing guitar performance with astral nuances, a cinematic energy and a soundscape fit for a James Bond 007 soundtrack as Sean opens the track with his sublime vocals, cosmic harmonies and a production that reminds us of the British band, Space.
We know that fans of Bowie will be able to connect with the song, and we are enamoured by the sixties, power pop adjacency with psychedelic nuance – both sonically and in the lyrics. A trippy guitar riff cements this vibe before a celestial finale.
In essence, the track addresses deep philosophical and spiritual questions with its metaphorical prose, and we feel as if we are being taken on a trip around the universe, pondering notions of oneness and the questions of how, why and for what reason we exist.

For some background, Sean MacLeod is a founding former member of the Dublin band Cisco, who gained critical acclaim and international attention with producer Paul Barrett and their album No 1. After the band split, Sean pursued a solo career and released numerous singles, as well as three albums of original music.
We are always in awe of his work and the energy that transmutes with his divine, source-coded vibes and genre expansive motifs. We can imagine Beautiful Star being played on the rooftop of Petit Ermitage in Hollywood, perfect for a micro dose or even a macro dose!
We have added Beautiful Star to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the entirety of New Start, including the title track, Let The Light In, and Sweetness.
