Our obsession with ESTRADA Music Project seems to grow with every listen. We previously featured the important and inspiring single, You Need To Go First, and the intelligent and emotive, medical-inspired track, You Are Not Alone, so when we heard that the project was back with I Don’t Need To Hide Anymore, we were curious and couldn’t wait to listen!
I Don’t Need To Hide Anymore opens with a pulsating heartbeat – again reflecting the medical reality that ESTRADA Music Project embodies. Layered over this are siren-like frequencies and psychedelic synths, supported by a steady, hypnotic bassline. It’s melodic, trippy and immersive.
Estrada’s atmospheric delivery feels situational and yet deeply introspective. Layered harmonies weave through the verses, whilst repeated refrains create depth. Each phrase delivers tension and release, and giving the song a meditative, mantra-esque vibe.
As always, raw emotion is at the heart of the track. There’s a clear William Orbit sensibility in the shimmering synth textures, blended with echoes of The Cure’s melancholic grunge-pop energy. The song manages to feel both glistening and high-octane.
Lyrically, the track is empowering. Lines like the hook “I don’t need to hide anymore…” serve as repeated affirmations, They emphasize notions of self-acceptance and authenticity. Of course, Estrada channels his personal experiences – notably the balance of being a doctor and musician – into a universal message about embracing who you truly are. This is powerful and feels important, now more than ever considering the state of our shared reality. It truly is a declaration of freedom, a reminder that pursuing what you love and staying true to yourself is what matters most.
