Setting the tone with cerebral percussion details, expanding into the iconic sample of Ruff Ryders‘ Anthem by DMX, originally produced by Swizz Beatz, Abyss16 opens The Other CAR with iconography, nostalgia, an introduction and a mic check.
The track evolves with an evocative flow, a mix that pans, and choral chant moments that add dimensionality to the piece. The remix single, also know by its full name, Asian_Philippine_Islander_Polynesian_PRIDE (The Other CAR) serves as both a celebration and declaration of identity.
We appreciate the high octane and detailed flow with poetic prowess and intentional depth that is designed to embody a fierce pride in cultural heritage, whilst merging the grit of hip-hop. The sample itself is reimagined through Kassem Dean’s signature rendition. Abyss16, who is also known as Lil Creepy, transforms the iconic beat into a vessel of representation and empowerment. He cites the influence as, “The pride of our people Asian, Pacific Islander, Filipino and Polynesian decent.”
What truly makes The Other CAR compelling is its origin story. We learn that the track began as a warm-up session in Abyss16’s home studio. It then evolved into a moment of raw introspection and self-expression. The artist confesses, “I was feeling under the weather and did a warm up with a lot on my mind.”

This authentic and spontaneous creative outburst translates into the vibe that manifests, where every bar feels urgent, raw and performed with a high emotional quotient. Sonically, the remix is a hybrid of classic West Coast flavour and a modern, self-defined islander identity.
Beyond its sonic intensity, The Other CAR also serves as a cultural bridge. It connects generations, geographies and genres. Abyss16 channels a collective consciousness in prose and an overarching message that transcends borders. It seeks to amplify underrepresented voices through rhythm and notions of resilience.
Naturally, we are in awe, and have added The Other CAR to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY playlist, whilst we anticipate future releases from the brilliant, Abyss16!
