Establishing the mood with a luscious alt-country guitar soundscape, laced with intricacy, Michellar opens We Both Can Fall with sublime vocals from Gracie Lou, as she sings, “We can’t see eye to eye, we have different ways you and I, I know it’s been a while since we have been together, I know it’s been hard for us to carry on…”
We are immediately enthralled by the high emotional quotient of the song and the poetic depth that comes to life with the prose. There is a cinematic allure, perfect for a TV show like My Life with the Walter Boys, or a coming-of-age blockbuster like Jazzy!
The chord changes for the middle eight further heighten the emotional depth of the track, and we are enthralled by the build, the subtle vocal harmonies and the overarching timeless nature of the production.
Speaking on the release, the talented Michellar candidly confesses, “There are many troubled couples in this world. I myself have been going through some rough times with my marriage in the past months because of the transitions I have been going through …. mostly because songwriting has taken over my life. My life hasn’t been the same since I started writing songs in 2023. My habits and schedules have changed drastically affecting our everyday lives. This song is written because I wanted to get back to where we were somehow. I think we will get there shakily but steadily.”

Michellar references inspiration from Kelly Clarkson for the song, which we learn was recorded in San Francisco and mastered in the UK. The track highlights a global collaboration that brings depth and authenticity to its sound. We Both Can Fall was co-written by Michellar and Tobias, who exchanged ideas and instrumentals to tell a deeply personal story about love, struggle and hope.
After a 40-year break from songwriting, Michellar reignited her passion in 2023 following her acceptance into the deYoung Museum Open Call Exhibition. Since then, she has written many songs and released 22 singles in just nine months. Her work blends personal reflection with emotional honesty, giving us a glimpse into her evolving artistry and renewed confidence.
We have added We Both Can Fall to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Michellar‘s ever-growing discography!
