Establishing the mood with an intricate, acoustic guitar soundscape, franxie opens Fucking Around with a delicate, atmospheric timbre and assertive, self-realized prose as she sings, “Nothing in common but I like you anyway, you’re not forgotten, yeah I see it in your face, it’s time we stopped fucking around…”
The opus expands with a high emotional quotient and introspective, poetic prowess as franxie shares her soul and lived experience with us. There is no doubt that Fucking Around marks a bold and vulnerable debut from the Wollongong-based artist.
In essence, it is a track that sits somewhere between confession and confrontation. It’s a self-reckoning, perfectly described as “part apology, part dare”, and born into the uneasy space between staying and going. This feels zeitgeist and relatable, now, more than ever.
The production is stripped but cinematic. It features muted guitars, bruised vocals and a rhythmic pulse delivered by the artist’s timbre, that mirrors the quiet momentum of finally moving forward. The cinematic allure makes the track perfect for a coming of age movie or TV show like Euphoria on HBO or Netflix‘s Elite. Fans of Billie Eilish will also be able to connect with Fucking Around!

The choral harmonies are incredible, and the charisma that franxie performs with is second to none, only next to her outstanding songwriting. Speaking on the release, the star confesses, “This song is about procrastination, wrong turns, and breaking what was already broken just to breathe again – I did what I had to do to leave what was suffocating me. It’s me accepting that, coming to terms with it, and finally breaking free. Just finishing this song myself is huge – it proves I’m capable and can finally move on with my own music.”
As you can tell, we are in awe, and have added Fucking Around to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we anticipate future releases from franxie!
