We previously featured the awesome Cargo G when she shared a timeless ballad of intentional vulnerability and evolution with Chrome Heart, so when we heard that the star was back with Crossroads, we couldn’t wait to listen!
Crossroads opens with a strummed acoustic guitar – intimate and stripped back, before Cargo G sets the scene with situational prose, astral ad libs and an evocative, high octane flow. The track is sublime, emotive, and the choral, layered vocals are incredibly immersive.
The message is relatable. The sound is cinematic and despite the delicate delivery, Cargo G comes across as assertive and badass. In essence, it is a soulful yet playfully comedic reflection on indecision, self-awareness and the irony of repeating old patterns.
Cargo G blends neo-soul warmth with her witty and intelligent lyricism. The track captures the moment of realizing that someone or something has offered little for years, yet returning anyway, now with a sense of humour about it.

We learn that the track was born from a spirit of spontaneity and lighthearted experimentation, the transformation for the finale into a down pitched cerebral vibe is a mirror for the emotional contradictions that manifest. Genius, if you ask us!
Another interesting aspect is how Crossroads uses comedy as a way to deal with tough emotions. Cargo G‘s background in musical theatre definitely shows in the way she tells a story through song. The track feels like a road trip (hello Britney Spears) full of laughs and small moments of self-realization. It’s not just about heartbreak, but it’s about seeing your own patterns and finding humour in them.
We have added Crossroads to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream Cargo G‘e exquisite growing discography and anticipate future releases from the visionary rising artist.
